Sandra Fenwick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 27 to Jan. 28, 2022.
Sandra Marie Plowden Fenwick, known to family and friends as "Snooky", was born on June 26, in Baltimore Maryland, to the late Charles and Margie Plowden. At the age of 73, Sandra peacefully accepted God's hand and departed for her heavenly home on January 22, 2022.

She was educated in the Public School System of St. Mary's County Md.and graduated from Benjamin Banneker High School in 1965. Sandra was employed with The Census Bureau for many years, until the time of her retirement in 2010.

Sandra met and married the love of her life, the late James Alphonso "Bootsie" Fenwick, in Hollywood Md. and from that union three children were born, Yolanda, Garrett and Christal

For many years, Sandra and her husband, Bootsie, operated Fenwick's Tavern in Oakville Maryland. She always greeted every customer with a smile and warm welcome, flashing her gold lined tooth. She had a bubbly personality and people were drawn to her kind spirit, infectious conversation and kidding.

Sandra enjoyed bowling and became an asset to the bowling league. She was also a Die-Hard Redskins Fan, and a member of the Jean Scene club.

She loved family gatherings, cookouts and a good old game of cards. Driving around in her Lincoln was her favorite thing to do, honking at neighbors and waving even though you could barely see the top of her head until she passed by. Sandra loved to hand dance and would laugh and cut up while moving her feet swiftly across the dance floor.

She was very particular about the way she dressed, how she carried herself and her hair. The clothing she and the kids wore was ironed and pressed to perfection, simply because her husband, Bootsie, was a commercial clothing press manager at the Leonardtown Laundry. She never let her children go out anywhere, without wiping their faces, cleaning their ears, and making sure they were covered with lotion from head to foot. Being ashy and living in the Fenwick household was a no no for her.

Sandra made many trips to Baltimore to visit with her sisters and brothers that she adored. She spent a lot of time with her brother, Bubby, that she considered the matriarch of the family. In the neighborhood, Sandra and Bootsie's nickname was "Mutt" and "Jeff" simply because he was so tall and she was so short.

She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morganza, until she moved to Suitland, Md. She insisted that her children know and understand the catholic faith and the importance of serving the Lord by enrolling them in Mother Catholic Spalding school in Morganza, Md.

If anyone in the community had a need, she was always there, willing to help or lend a hand.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Bootsie) and son, Garrett Fenwick; her parents, Charles and Margie Plowden; father and mother-in-law, James (Big Bootsie) and Mary A Fenwick; sister, Margaret (Blanche) Jordan, and brothers, Charles (Bunny) Plowden Jr, Joseph (Joe boy) Plowden and brothers-in-law, Joseph 'Buddy" Jordan,.and John (Bobby) Fenwick and sister-in-law, Barbara A. Fenwick.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Yolanda Fenwick-Williams (Charles Jr "Antonio") and Christal Fenwick; granddaughter, Jasmin Fenwick; grandsons, Charles III, Malik, Travis, Alonzo, Marcos and great grand's, sister, Catherine (Kitty Ann) Munos, and brother, James (Bubby) Plowden (Jacquelyn), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Family and friends will unite on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 for visitation at 10 am until time of service at 11 am at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD. Interment to follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 38888 Dr. Johnson Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.

There will be no repast due to the pandemic.
