Sandra RUDDY

I cannot believe Sandy has been gone for so many years now! Such a shock! We went to Junior High School together and I remember her taking a family member's wrestling boots to be repaired. We loved taking part in the school plays. My memories of Norma are wonderful. I went to a different high school but met Sandy again at University and was at her wedding to Bill in her Lutheran Church. She helped me several times - once picking me up after having my wisdom teeth out and I was so groggy, she had to stay with me. Our lives then drifted apart but were ironically close. I lived in a penthouse apartment overlooking BayView where I think Sandy once resided. I had a home in Okotoks for five years before I moved to Wales where I continued my education - a Masters and a Phd. Isn't it odd how individuals have such unique memories of one another? I think of the extra years I have been given that Sandy would have cherished. How very lucky she was to have had such a long marriage, three children and then even grandchildren. I can only think of two teenaged girls and then Sandy and me as young adults with their futures far ahead of them. Although it has been years since Sandy passed away, I know her family must keep her in their memories too. My sincerest condolences to them. Ellyn

Wow,!I can’t believe she left life as we know it on earth. My deepest heartfelt condolences to her family as they must feel such a void in the loss of such a remarkable woman.
Sandi and I completed our thesis together at her SE. home. We shared and we cared. I am deeply saddened by what seems to be a premature departure from the loving and giving life she knew.

Bill and family - I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Sandi made a huge difference in the lives of her students in her tireless efforts to get them on the right foot academically and professionally. She went the extra mile and opened countless doors for anyone who would ask and was a gift and inspiration to all of those she mentored. I am grateful for the opportunities she gave me – from babysitting Mark and Jill, to reference letters for jobs and universities. Great teachers and mentors like this are extremely rare and she can rest knowing her legacy is living on among the lives of many she touched.

Dear Bill and All,
I had no idea that Sandi had been ill. But I did have a vivid dream about Sandi just around the day she died, and we were to have coffee together. So vivid that I actually looked for the "note" as to when and where. And I didn't follow up, because, you see, my brother was in Hospice, and died 4 days later, on the 20th. I am crushed, for you, for your family, for me. Remembering all we did together, with Love.

Bill, I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Sandi's passing. She was a gifted Psychologist and guided me through a very difficult time many years ago. I was so thrilled to have reconnected last summer when the 2 of you were in the lodge in Calgary; and it was so special to me that Sandi and my now deceased mother Genevieve befriended each other and had some lovely conversations; they really connected and Sandi could see the beauty of my mother's personality, I will forever treasure that.

To Aunt Norma, Marlene, Bill and family,
As first cousin to Sandi, I experienced a lot of firsts with her. - first pizza, first roller skate attempt, first outpost camp to the mountains, first blind date... She was the risk taker, which usually led to some adventure or other. She made family visits fun and she knew how to celebrate special times with food and company. She will always hold a special place in my heart and in the hearts of Elaine and Brian.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Sandy was a dear friend and mentor to me. She always made me feel welcome and at peace in her presence and such an awesome Mom. I know that she will be greatly missed. Love you Sandy!

Very sorry to hear about the loss of Sandi. She made high school English fun for me and my classmates all those years ago at Okotoks High School.
