Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 5 to Mar. 15, 2024.
Sandra "Sandy" Ann Baker, 80, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away at her residence March 1, 2024. Sandra was born in Mesa, Arizona, on May 14, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" and Alberta "Bertie" Deckard. She married the love of her life, Samuel B. Baker, on June 15, 1963.

Sandra was a 1961 graduate of Wheatland High School and went on to attend Vincennes University. She worked for many years as a secretary for Vincennes Steel and South Knox School Corporation. She continued her career with Knox County Realty and volunteered for the Women's Auxiliary at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Sandra was a regular attender of the Bruceville and Wheatland Christian Churches where she faithfully served by playing the piano and organ for many years. She was involved with the Christian Women's Club and was a member of Eastern Star. In her later years, she loved and looked forward to spending time with her Thursday card club friends. Sandra enjoyed playing the piano and organ, baking, reading, and spending time with family and friends-especially her four grandchildren.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Deckard.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Sam Baker; sons Ryan Baker and his wife, Stacy, and Rhett Baker and his wife, Delaney; grandchildren Hallie, Andrew, Pender, and Carver Baker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
