Sandra Stewart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 24, 2025.
Sandra "Sandy" Marie Stewart (née LeBuanic) passed away on October 23, 2024, in Burien, Washington, at the age of 73.

Sandy was born on December 5, 1950, in Astoria, Oregon. She spent her early years surrounded by a large extended family and many cousins before her family relocated to Everett, Washington. There, she attended Cascade High School and graduated in 1969.

She began her professional career in 1974 as an accounting clerk at Smyth Worldwide. Over the years, she advanced into accounting management roles at Data I/O and Sierra On-Line, specializing in Accounts Payable and Payroll. In 1999, she semi-retired and worked part-time for Dr. William Schmidt until declining eyesight led to her full retirement in 2010.

Sandy married Mike Weaver in 1970, and together they had three sons. Though their marriage ended in divorce, she remained devoted to her children. In 1977, she met Craig Stewart at a New Year's Eve party; three years later, on New Year's Eve of 1980, they married in the very house where they first met.

A warm and outgoing person, Sandy loved socializing and hosting gatherings. She had a passion for crafting-especially quilting-and found joy in gardening. Travel was another great love of hers; after retirement, she dedicated herself to planning vacations with the goal of visiting as many distant places as possible before her eyesight failed.

Her dedication to family extended beyond her home life into community involvement. She actively supported her sons' participation in junior football and served as treasurer for the Burien Bearcats during their playing years. Her commitment continued into the next generation when she helped establish the Puget Sound Football League in 1997 and served as treasurer while her grandson played.

Sandy is survived by her husband Craig; her sister Vickie Ratliff; her sons Chris Weaver, Shain Weaver, and Jamey Weaver; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Patricia LeBuanic, and her sister Julie Vogel.

Sandy's warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life is planned for March in Burien.

We'll always remember Sandy's generous spirit. The kids in the neighborhood always made out like bandits on Halloween. And she was a wonderful traveling companion; getting three socially inept engineers to interact with the locals and have fun. We will miss her. Dick and Beth

Sandra was such an amazing woman who I´m privileged to have to honor to have known. She was such a lively full of love and happiness woman, although a fireball when needed. Those things are what made her so amazing and special. Surrounded by friends and family is where she always seemed comfortable and happy. You will always be in my heart and memories. Love you Sandra fly high and rest easy.
