View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Sewell Babb, 86, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church with Rev. David Spencer, Barry Babb and Joseph Houston Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1 – 3:00 p.m. at the church. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Thomas Harry Sewell and Hettie Mae Elam Sewell. She was a 1944 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served as Class Treasurer. In 1947 she married James D. Babb who preceded her in death in 1991. She was employed at the City of Columbia for a number of years and retired from the Oak Ridge K 12 Nuclear Plant. She loved to play Bridge, travel and was a member of the APTA and the James K. Polk Home Association. She was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, James Barry (Camille) Babb of Franklin; daughters, Donna (Dr. John P.W.) Brown, Jan Elizabeth (Thomas N.) Tate both of Columbia; Sara Denise (Harold) Ware, Lisa Jean Riley both of Memphis, and Suzanne (Keith) Moore of Ft. Worth, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Sewell and Tommy Sewell. Her daughter-in-law and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
