Sara HANSEN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 12, 2018.
Sara Louise Hansen went to be with her heavenly Father and her Savior Jesus Christ on January 8, 2018, where she is now enjoying that promised inheritance which will NOT fade away but is imperishable and undefiled, reserved in heaven for those who love the Lord Jesus (1st Peter 1:4). Sara trusted in Jesus as her Savior when she was young, and even when she didn't feel good, continued to serve faithfully in ministries at church, including the youth group in the past and in the AWANA Bible club ministry up until late November 2017.

Sara was born in Seattle, WA on January 9, 1982 to parents Michael and Jeannette Hansen, and in April 1983 was joined by her best friend and younger sister, Abigail. Sara grew up in the Kent and Renton areas, going to a Christian preschool in Maple Valley then being homeschooled most of her pre-college days. She got her GED from Green River College at age 16 and started their Running Start high school/ college completion program but had to stop before achieving an AAA degree due to health issues. Eventually she was able to return to GRC and graduated in 2012 with an AAA, Administrative Assistant degree. Sara worked for ADESA Auto Auction, Kmart, Target, and Walmart as well as for GRC in the Workforce Education Department alongside her mom for several months in 2012. Over the past 11 months her last job was the one she enjoyed and treasured most, caring for Abby's son, Lucas.

Sara loved music and played viola briefly then transitioned to playing the 'cello in school orchestras as well as taking piano lessons from her grandpa for several years. For several years she also sang on one of the worship teams at Eastridge Baptist Church, where she and her family attended from 1985 until present and where she was a member. Sara loved anything written and sung by Michael W. Smith, the Newsboys, MercyMe, Chris Tomlin and other artists, with most-recent favorite group being the acapella group, Home Free. She went to as many concerts as she could and went to sleep best when listening to her music.

Sara had been in declining health particularly over the past four years after experiencing multiple hospital stays, surgeries and doctor visits starting at age 9; now she's in perfect health!!

Sara was proceeded in death by both of her Hansen grandparents, her Heacock grandfather, and her father Michael, and is survived by mother Jeannette, sister Abby, nephew Luke, Jeannette's husband Dale and his two daughters, Marie and Karen, Karen's husband Kris and their son Noah, grandmother Laurie Heacock, 3 great-aunts and a great-uncle, 7 aunts, 5 uncles, at least 18 cousins and their children, and friends too numerous to list.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Eastridge Baptist Church (located at 12520 SE 240th St. Kent, WA 98031). The service will start at 1 PM and will include congregational singing, a gospel message, a eulogy, an open-mic opportunity (so if you'd like to speak, be prepared!). If you feel you'd like to write something for someone else to read, that is an option as well. The service will conclude with light refreshments. Abby and I would like to suggest, in honor of Sara's favorite 'outfit' that you consider wearing toe socks (the socks with individual 'gloves' for your toes) and bring a 'onesie' to put on after the service for a group photo in Sara's memory.

We first met Sara in 1996, I believe, when we were there to minister in concert at Eastridge. As a full time traveling ministry, we have only been back to Kent a few times, but have kept in touch to some degree. However, even with limited contact, I have to say that Sara was "easy to love, but hard to forget". She will be greatly missed even by those who only knew her casually, but her influence and encouragement continue to live on in the lives of many.

I remembering when I first joined S.A.L.T.I.E meeting Sara when I was Seven years old and how nice she was to talk to. She is a very good friend I enjoyed interreacting with her on FaceBook. I admired her courage and great faith going through all those operations.Sara had a great sense of humor always had a positive attitude no matter what difficulty she was facing. Sara inspired even me to try be positive about life despite what difficulty I am facing. I have known Sara and her mother and sister since 1989. They're great faith in Christ helped to bring me to the Christian Faith. Sara may she rest in peace with her father and Heavenly Father.
