Sara Lee Bartley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 14, 2025.
Sara Lee Bartley, 86, of Easthampton, MA, passed away on July 13th, surrounded by her family.

Born December 7, 1938 and raised in Canton, Connecticut, Sara Lee lived a rich and varied life across East Longmeadow, MA; New Hampton, NH; and for the past 14 years in her "little nest" at the Treehouse Community in Easthampton, MA.

During her life, Sara Lee worked as a telephone switchboard operator at New York's Ausable Club, in the secretarial staff at SPAN in Hartford where she met the love of her life, and later as a volunteer at Headstart in Springfield. She also worked as an administrative assistant at her husband's company, Pro Data, in East Longmeadow. Later in life, she continued giving back as a volunteer for a short time at the Easthampton Senior Center and enjoyed lending a helping hand to many of her friends and Treehouse Community members.

Sara Lee was a proud member of the Young@Heart Chorus, bringing joy to audiences well into her later years. She treasured her friendships with fellow Y@H members and her neighbors at Treehouse. She also loved getting together to catch up with old friends from "The Circle" in East Longmeadow.

But above all, Sara Lee loved being with her family. She was endlessly proud of her children and grandchildren, and was always their biggest cheerleader. She poured her love into each and every person she met, and was always ready with a hug or a hand to hold. No one was a stranger to Sara Lee.

She is survived by her children: Chris Bartley and his wife Lucy Perez of East Longmeadow, MA; Bill Bartley and his wife Shu Kim of Weston, CT; and Sara Quigley and her husband Paul of Easthampton, MA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jennifer, Amarilys, Peter, Avery, Katherine, and Eleanor.

Sara Lee was predeceased by her husband, Charles W. Bartley, in 2012.

Her family is grateful for the care she received in her final months from Serenity PACE, Agawam East Rehab and Nursing, as well as Hospice of Western & Central Mass. They are also eternally grateful for the friends who brought joy to her life over so many years.

In honoring Sara Lee's wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your local Hospice or to deathwithdignity.org in her memory.
