Sara Meyers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 12, 2025.
Sara Brodine Meyers passed away suddenly on July 8, 2025. She was the proud mother of sons Andrew and Erik; beloved mother-in-law to Michele and Jodi; caring step-mother to Alexandra, and devoted grandmother of Olin, Chase, Maya, Bella, and Cooper. She is pre-deceased by the love of her life, husband Ted; and by her sister Ruey. A true Vermonter, Sara was born in 1942 to Jane and Don Brodine and spent her childhood on the campus of Vermont Academy. Throughout her life, she cherished her relationships with countless cousins and friends - from Vermont, Brookline, Waltham, Italy, Maryland, California, Iowa... and more. Sara was an accomplished writer, reader, and educator who taught in the Waltham School system for over 40 years. She had recently published her memoir, Random, sharing her memories and observations with friends worldwide. She loved games, and surprised her family each year at Christmas with a unique game she created especially for them. In recent years, she had discovered Mah Jongg and was delighted to report every time she won (which, much to her chagrin, was not often). Sara loved all things Italian and was dedicated to the many cats that wandered into her life, most recently Jax and Brodie. She loved movies, art, and cooking...visiting independent film cinemas, craft fairs, and museums; and making countless trips to various gourmet markets to add goodies to her already over-filled fridge and freezer. Above all, Sara cherished quality time with friends and family, who will miss her quick wit, deep curiosity, and kind heart.

I will so miss Sara at our weekly Mahjong games. She was such a good sport, learning the game along with the rest of us. How she loved to win! A very generous woman, helping anyone in need. I met Sara years ago at the Y water aerobics class. I was always impressed with her strength and grit, despite her physical restraints. Her delivering Meals on Wheels stands out as an example - through rain, wind, sleet and snow - she delivered, pushing her walker as she went. She was always very positive, never complaining about her various problems. I´m so happy to have gotten to know her better through reading her recent memoir, Random. RIP my friend, we´ll miss you more than you´d ever know.

Sending my sincere condolences to the family of Sara.
We both grew up in Saxtons River & were in the same grade in school.
The high-school class of 60 recently had our 65 reunion, Sara didn´t make it.
Rest in peace, old friend!!!
We kept in touch through Facebook, we would send details of unusual homes to each other from time to time.

I am so saddened to hear of Sara´s passing. We worked together in the classroom for years. Sara taught and mentored with such incredible creativity, insight and brilliant mind. We formed a friendship through those years that I will forever treasure. She will be greatly missed. Fondly, Celine McLean

Sad though it is, I do appreciate your notifying me about your mother's passing. Otherwise I never would have known. Despite our advanced years, we're never really prepared for such news. Ted and I were classmates and stayed in touch over the years. And so another chapter comes to a close.

Thank you again for letting me know.

With sincere condolences,

I share your sorrow at Sara's passing. I was a friend of Ted's from boyhood. I regret that the many miles separating us (I'm in Cincinnati) prevented me from meeting Sara, but we had a few telephone conversations, which I did enjoy.
Although times like this inevitably occur throughout our lives, we never are fully prepared to accept them.
I hope that your sadness will be softened by a lifetime of good memories.

With prayers for your comfort,
Bill Myers

My sincere condolences. Sara and Ted were great friends of my parents and I remember them both very well from my childhood. As a matter of fact, I recall Sara and her two boys, my mother, brother, and me all attended a Red Sox game together in 1979 when Carl Yastrzemski was very close to hitting his 3,000th and 400th home run (neither occurred that night) and I´m not sure why Frank and Ted were absent (probably work), but it a great memory. Though I hadn´t know Sara for long, she was a positive influence on everyone in our Water aerobics classes at the Y, our Mahjong group.
