In the quietness of the afternoon on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, the “Good Shepherd” beckoned Sara Elizabeth Reynolds to come home to a land of eternal Peace, Joy and Love. Terry and Phyllis Reynolds were the proud parents of Sara on August 26, 1946 in Roanoke, Virginia.
Being reared in a Christian home, at an early age, Sara accepted Christ as her Savior at Sweet Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William Gilbert. She was a faithful and loyal member serving on the Echoes of Faith Choir and numerous committees.
Sara graduated from Lucy Addison High School in 1964. She began her career in the Roanoke City Public Schools where she dedicated her professional life until retirement.
Sara was a compassionate person; always willing and ready to help someone along the way. Our beloved enjoyed a loving relationship with family and friends and asserted herself in community affairs. Over the years, she truly adored traveling, sewing and showcasing her exemplary baking skills. The Sisters’ Act which consisted of Catering and Floral Designs was the last skill to be accomplished before her illness.
Precious memories will be everlasting to her loving and confidant sister, Barbara Reynolds; devoted goddaughters, Paula Page and Kim (Thurston) Ford; special cousins, P. Christine Williams, Rhonda Preston and Pat Reynolds; loyal friends, E. W. Chambers and Becky Campbell; and a host of family, friends and neighbors.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2022, at Sweet Union Baptist Church. Livestreaming will be available via the Hamlar-Curtis website. Click "View Livestreaming Here" at the top of the screen. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to www.hamlar-curtis.com.
