Sarah Katherine Elrick

Sarah Katherine (Gerhard) Elrick, 95, of Blairsville, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at St. Andrew?s Village, Indiana. A daughter of Calvin Sides and Harriet (McFarland) Gerhard, she was born July 30, 1914 in Derry Township. Mrs. Elrick was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, where she was an elder, member of the Mizpah Class and Women?s Association. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Blairsville Chapter, Historical Society of the Blairsville Area, Blairsville Grange No. 2012 and the AARP. She graduated from Derry Township High School in 1933 and worked as a secretary for Sears Roebuck Company, retiring in 1976. Surviving are a son, Raymond P. Elrick and wife Sharon, Blairsville; and a daughter, Katherine Thomas and husband Daniel, Vero Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Stephen and Brad Elrick, Melinda Thomas and Christina Taylor; four great-grandchildren Morgan Elrick, Sara Katherine Barth, Noel and River Taylor; two sisters, Ruth Himler, Latrobe, and Jean Budding, Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul S. Elrick on July 18, 2003; two sisters, Irene Gerhard and Grace Evans; and four brothers, George S., Donald C., Hugh and Mac Gerhard. Friends were received at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., Blairsville, where funeral services were held Wednesday with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.
