Sarah Margaret Veal Hodges 81 died Tuesday October 21, 2008. Services will be held Monday October 27, 2008, 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jay Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Deepstep United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hodges was a native of Washington County and made her home in Milledgeville where she graduated from Georgia State College for Women earning her B. A. in English. She was a retired high school English teacher of 39 years and was the senior class sponsor and club advisor. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and member of the Delta Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her parents Eugenia Breedlove and Oscar Franklin Veal, Jr. her husband Cecil Ray Hodges and a sister Virginia Nell Merola. She was an active member for over 40 years of First United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities.

Survivors include her daughter Cecile Hodges Morrison and her husband William of Sumter, SC, three brothers; Dr. Curtis Franklin Veal of Milledgeville, Eugene Breedlove Veal of Athens, and Glenn Adolphus Veal of Milledgeville, three grandchildren William Bruce Morrison of New York City, NY, Franklin Ray Morrison of of Los Angeles, CA, Margaret Rachel Morrison of Rock Hill, SC.

Memorial may be made to the First United methodist Church, 366 Log Cabin Rd. Milledgeville, GA 31061 or to the Holy Comforter, "Lamb Institute" 213 N. main St. Sumter, SC 29150
