Sarah Lewis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 27, 2010.
A family has paid tribute to a 'beautiful, caring' 21-year-old woman who died at Maidenhead train station on Saturday, May 22.

Sarah Lewis' parents Sally and Richard Lewis and sister Ellie Lewis said she was an 'incredible girl' and they are devastated by her death.

Sarah was a head girl at Newlands Girls School and had attended Oldfield Primary School as a youngster.

She was a carer and also at Thames Valley Adventure Playground in Taplow.

Sarah, who lived in Clare Road, excelled at music, playing the piano from five and the clarinet from 11.

She performed with the Zephyr Wind Band, East Berkshire Youth Orchestra and Newlands Madrigal Choir and also helped run groups for younger musicians.

She also used her talent to help others, organising and taking part in numerous charity concerts from an early age.

A natural athlete, Sarah was a member of Maidenhead Athletic Club and Maidenhead Girls Football Club and a national high jump champion.

Mum Sally, said she had enthusiasm for everything she did but her favourite activity was power boating with the sea cadets. She said she was at her happiest when she was up a tree or out in a powerboat or with friends she cared about."

I hadnt known sarah for very long or indeed very well but her company was such a delight and i am sad to see that this has happened. Her piano playing was a genuine pleasure that once made me cry and i honestly hope that she has found peace amongst the stars because she was definatly one herself (matthew, previously at heatherwood)

It's hard to know the right words to say especially as I never knew Sarah but I have been really moved by the messages people have left for a girl who was clearly an amazing and beautiful person. Her family must be so very proud that their daughter, sister, neice etc has touched so many people's hearts.
My sister and my best friend also went to Newlands and always speak very fondly of Sarah. I truely hope she is at peace now and my thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who has posted tributes, both here and on facebook, and to everyone who has sent us cards and letters of condolence. Sarah was a wonderful girl who clearly touched the hearts of very many people and it does help to know that she will be remembered with such affection by so many people that knew her. We just have to trust that Sarah is now free and at peace with herself. I wish we had been able to help her more when she was here. Love you forever Sarah x x x x

We only met Sarah twice once at her Great Grandma's 90th birthday party where she gave a lonely elderly gentleman a kiss on the cheek which made his day and moved him and his observers to tears(she was around 5 or 6 at the time). The second time was at her Uncle Peter,s wedding we were stunned by what a beautiful young lady she turned out to be.Our hearts go out to Richard Sally and Eli and thoughts are with you.
With all our love Nicola, David, Marcus, Annalise and Katie xxxxx

I first met Sarah through her work at the Thames Valley Adventure Playground and became very much in awe of her when my daughter started at Newlands. How special is it when the head girl greets you by name in your first week? She was inspirational - every time I saw her, whether at a school music event or at the TVAP, I thought "this is who I want my daughter to be."

In loving memory of Sarah Lewis
Sarah was a truly wonderful person to be around, as a young child she was always happy and eager to please, never sitting still for a moment and getting stuck into everything life has to offer. As an adult she was always caring, with my young son and his young cousins always making a b-line for her kindred spirit at any family get together.
She strove and gained perfection in everything she did, a gifted child turned into a talented young and beautiful adult. She was surrounded by a loving and caring family and my heartfelt grief can only be surpassed by there’s.
Sarah suffered in the last few years with a very real illness, which has ultimately stolen her from us all but Sarah struggled on with dignity and grace until her untimely death.
Sarah thank you for gracing my life with your presence, when i speak your name it is always with a huge amount of pride.
We will all be there for you on your final journey, may you rest in peace.
Until we meet again.
You’re loving Uncle Peter, Mish and Cameron Lewis

Sarah was a fantastic clarinettist and I will never forget her amazing talents in music. She was an inspiration to me when I was in my early years at Newlands Girls and she was an asset to the school. She was always so lovely to me whenever I saw her around school, greeting me with a smile everyday. :)
