Dear Nancy,
I was so saddened to learn of Saul's passing. Saul was a treasured lifelong friend of my late husband Herb Gray and he was my very dear friend from the time I married Herb almost 50 years ago. We spoke to each other regularly and were at each other's significant life events. Saul was a passionate voice for human rights and justice for all and I always valued the conversations I had with him on these issues. Herb was a partisan politician while Saul was totally non-partisan, but they had an enduring friendship and a shared commitment to serving the community and working to achieve social justice. Saul was a very special person and will be missed by all. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

Nancy and family I'm so sorry to hear this news. I'll miss seeing him at the Emara center and his little crooked smile when he saw me knowing he would be getting his hair and beard trim. Entering his room and seeing all of the beautiful orchids that lined the window ledge and seeing him always cozy in a fuzzy blanket with the radio playing is what I'll remember.

I will never forget that as a newly called lawyer many years back, Justice Nosanchuk took the time to ensure I felt like a true member of the criminal bar in Windsor.

I have such fond memories of Prof. and Justice Nosanchuk. Saul taught me at Windsor Law School in the early 1970's. He was a great prof, and a real character, smart, warm, charming and funny, and he was a terrific lawyer. And during those years, I was in trouble and he helped me out. He was very kind to me. Things turned out okay, as I became a judge on the Ontario Court of Justice in 2008. He was very important to my career, and I will always be grateful. I miss him.

What a pleasure to have known Saul personally. When you approach him to speak, at first you see such a giant in front of you and you looking way way up to him. Just mere moments into your conversation you realize all of a sudden you are now eye to eye with Saul because of the wonderful person he was - down to earth, compassionate, and really interested in you and what you had to say. Rest in Peace Your Honour.

Saul Nosanchuk inspired me as a mentor, teacher and judge. Rest in Peace, your honour.

June 22, 2017

During numerous interviews with Saul these past four years for a book on spree killer Matthew Charles Lamb, I found Saul Nosanchuk to be a quiet and distinguished man. He was spiritually rich, possessing the rare gift of seeking, and usually finding, a redeeming quality in the basest of men. Anyone who appeared before Saul as a defendant was fortunate to be judged by a magistrate who thoroughly understood their case and rendered a judgment in the best interests of the defendant and the general public. Saul's contribution to my book provided valuable insight and perspective. It was an honor to know you, a man who made your community a better place to live in your time.Rest in Peace,
Will & Laura Toffan

I worked for Mr. Nosanchuk for just one year in the '60s. I credit him with possibly saving my life - he asked why, as a young woman, was I too tired to work overtime. He telephoned his physician right there and then to arrange an appointment for me, and shortly thereafter I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He was a wonderful employer, great sense of humour and cared so much about people. I feel saddened to hear of his passing. Mr. Nosanchuk will be fondly remembered by many, especially the legal community.

Mrs. Nosanchuk, Matthew Nosanchuk and family, I am very sorry for your loss.
He never stopped believing the very best was possible with the human spirit, soul and heart. Many, many memories of him and our talks, including him giving me guidance, dancing with me at my wedding, the gifts he gave me and my girls long after I stopped working with him at court. He touched the lives of thousands. I was very blessed to have had him in my life. Rest in peace your Honour. Thank you for all you gave - you will never be forgotten. As brilliant of a legal mind as your most beautiful heart. It was truly an honour to have known you❤
