Scott Amenta Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 7, 2015.
To our son:

On December 5, 1973, Guy and I welcomed an 8lb bundle named Scott.

For the next 41 years we watched a very happy child become a handsome teenager with his long hair. During his school years Scott enjoyed playing football and baseball, and playing in the rock band.
He grew to a beautiful young man. He was an accomplished bass player and sound engineer traveling with many musical talents. His son and music were his life.

The strong bond between Scott and his sister Karie was without a doubt something no one could touch. Family was very important to him.He could light up a room and was so full of life. He enjoyed people and sharing life stories. He always had fun where ever he was. Some knew him as "Flobee" and most recently "DJ BOX".
He was respectful, loving, caring and protective of the ones he loved.

Dominic was the center of his universe and loved to coach Dom's baseball team and cried when Dom hit his 1st homerun. His sensitivity, warmth and understanding were rare qualities that a mother could brag about. He loved the Yankees and wore their logo tattooed on his leg. His boisterous laugh could blow up a room with his presence.

In life, Scott was truly a hero in his son's eyes and will remain a hero in our hearts forever. He made the decision to be an organ donor years ago. His flag will fly in New Haven and at our home for he is fulfilling his wish on January 8th at 8 pm…..Our son, my friend, my little boy, Scottie, we love you!

Written by Dom To his Daddy:
You were the best Dad in the whole world. I will always remember you. Thank you for helping me with baseball. I will miss your calls in the morning. I love you. I will take care of Norman and Maggie. I will wear your shirt at your funeral. I'll miss you a lot. We will talk about you and remember you every single day. And I made you into my very own player on MLB 14.

Scott A. Amenta, 41, passed away unexpectedly January 7, 2015. Scott was born in New Britain, CT on 12/5/1973 and was the son of Guy and Shirley (Colello) Amenta. Besides his parents he leaves a son, Dominic Amenta, 8; sister, Karie Amenta Corlette and her husband Jason Corlette. Also the love of his life and mother of his son, Lauri Gervais. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at 9:30 AM from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. I think I was around 8 years old when someone explained to me that my Uncle Guy and Auntie Shirley weren't my "blood" family. I thought Guy was one of my dad's brothers until that point in my life. I've always been proud to say the Amenta's ARE my family and even more proud to call Scott my cousin I will miss him immensely.
I don't think I have words that will help ease your pain, but I want you to know that you are not alone in your grief and YOUR FAMILY is here for you.
I will keep you in my prayers.

I was devastated to hear of the passing of Scott Amenta.

I had the privilege of having Scott in my classes while teaching at Plainville High School. Scott was smart, funny, a talented musician and had an infectious smile. I don't think I can ever recall a time when he was not smiling. He was a happy guy and although he could drive me a little crazy at times as many teenagers can, I loved every second of it and Scott was more than aware of this.

Teachers do their best to inspire their students but there are so many students who inspire their teachers. Scott was one of those students. He was always in a good mood and displayed his happiness with that smile. He was a pleasure to have in my classes and I was so lucky and blessed to have gotten to know him. We had many conversations over the years and he was a very special young man with an extremely mature outlook on life.

I send my deepest sympathy to Mr. & Mrs. Amenta, his sister Karie, brother-in-law, Jason, his son, Dominic, Lauri Gervais, all of his family, friends, and the Plainville High School Class of 1992.

Scott, continue to make your music, share your smile and wonderful personality in the world beyond…until we meet again.

Dear Scott
It broke my heart when I heard from my wife Kim that you were called to heaven. I saw you not long ago and invited me out but I had plans. I haven't known you for a long time but the time I did you were always happy and smiling and always talked about how happy you were when your sister got married. I was blessed to be part of that day with my wife. We had good talks when you came into the store when you saw my Yankee tattoo. Every time I go to a game I will say a special prayer for you brother. You will be truly missed man. You have touched so many peoples hearts in life cause you were a great guy. To the Amenta family and friends I am truly sorry for the loss of Scott. God has called him to heaven and he will be watching down on everyone. Its a tough journey but we have to pray and keep him close in our hearts.
