Scott "Scooter" Ronald Deobald, 52, passed away after a courageous 13-month battle against pancreatic cancer at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015.

Scott was born Jan. 19, 1963, to Michael Deobald and Jan (Brzinski) Arbuckle in St. Cloud. He graduated from Wabasha Kellogg High School in 1981. Scott and Gayle Roberson were united in marriage Oct. 19, 1985, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. He began working with his father-in-law, Donald Roberson, at Millville Plumbing and Excavating in Zumbro Falls. He then went on to complete his plumbing apprenticeship and worked as a plumber for a variety of shops, including Harkins Plumbing in Lake City. In 2008 he bought Norm's Old Bar in Zumbro Falls, and began Scooters Bar & Grill.

Scott was a member of the Zumbro Falls Fire Dept for 28 years, serving as 2nd assistant chief in the last few years. He was always willing to help others and his community however he could. Scott had many interests including snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, hunting, hockey, traveling, NASCAR, fishing and visiting with friends both old and ones he just met. He enjoyed many visits to Winter, Wis., in all seasons and developed many lifelong friendships there. He went on annual fishing trips with his boys, father and many friends. He had a great sense of humor, loved telling stories, and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was looking forward to the newest granddaughter due to arrive in March. Scott loved his family deeply, taught them so much and will be greatly missed.

Scott is survived by his wife, Gayle (Roberson) Deobald, Zumbro Falls; his children, Jordan, Katie, Logan and Clayton, all of Zumbro Falls. His three and 9/10ths grandchildren, Alexis, Summer, Levi and soon to be Elaina. Scott is also survived by a brother, Tim Kowalski, Fargo, N.D.; sisters, Chris (Rick) Kolar, Zumbro Falls, Shannon (Russ) Mullen, Chandler, Ariz., and Keri (Russ) Pepin, Zumbrota. Scott was also survived by stepbrothers, Todd Deobald, Bob Arbuckle, Joe Arbuckle and stepsister Vicki Wente.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jan Arbuckle, stepfather, Bob Arbuckle, father-in-law, Donald Roberson and grandparents.

Friends and family may visit from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
