Scott Forrest Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 10, 2025.
With shattered hearts, we share that Scott Erik Forrest, 46, passed away due to injuries sustained in a tragic accident at his New Brighton home on July 2nd. Scott left this world far too soon but not without leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone lucky enough to know him. A master of sarcasm, a world-class pain in the ass, and the kind of guy you just couldn't help but love-Scott brought light, humor, and brutal honesty to every room he entered. A big personality with an even bigger heart, he was a constant source of laughter, eye rolls, and unforgettable moments.

Born and raised in Cloquet, MN, Scott was a lifelong sports enthusiast and athlete. He was a fierce competitor on the field, the ice, the course, and in life. His passion for sports led to a successful career as a gifted physical therapist who connected with, encouraged, and genuinely cared about his patients. His dedication to helping others went beyond the clinic; he had a gift for lifting people's spirits with a perfectly-timed joke or sarcastic comment. His patients adored him and his colleagues loved him like family.

But Scott's proudest role by far was being a dad. His son, Logan, was his world-his greatest accomplishment, his constant joy, his never ending source of pride, and his favorite companion. Every part of Scott's life was shaped by his love and devotion to Logan.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Dale Patrick Forrest, mother, Julianne Regina (Chillen) Forrest and is survived by his beloved son Logan Forrest; his friend and co-parent Melissa (Jay) Bongard, with whom he shared deep respect and friendship; his loving sisters Michele Walsh, Amy (Donny) McCarthy, and twin Katy (Jason) Chartier, who knew him better than anyone and loved him even when he was impossible; his adoring nieces and nephews for whom he was much more than an uncle, Morgan, Jacob, Gracie, Ella, Blair, Manning and Murphy, and lifelong father figure and friend, Curt Leno and his family. He also leaves behind an endless circle of patients, colleagues, extended family, and friends who will forever feel the void of his absence.

A Celebration of Scott will be held Friday, July 18th at the Cloquet Country Club. A visitation will be held from 4 PM until the 6 PM memorial service; a reception will follow.

Please come prepared to share stories, laugh loudly, and honor him the way he lived-with heart, humor, and zero pretense. In his honor, we ask everyone to wear a funny, sarcastic, or inappropriate graphic tee, obnoxious Waggle, favorite sports apparel, or whatever you're most comfortable in (but let's keep it casual).

Rest easy, Scott. You were the best and you will be forever missed.

My heart is so sad, Scott you have been a part of my life for so long I can´t remember the first time you helped me recover from an injury. I will miss your humor and your insistence that I put you in my will so you could have my boat. You were an incredible person and so fun to joke around with. thank you for all of your care and humor. You are missed.

Every session I had with Scott over the years was a laugh fest, and he was a great therapist too! I trusted everything he said to me about my treatments, progress, and home workout assignments! Tragic loss of a rare and wonderful person. God Bless!

I was devastated to hear of Scott´s passing. What an incredible guy! I knew Scott from being a patient at OSI for years. It doesn´t matter if you are Scott´s patient - he jokes around with EVERYONE and was so much fun to banter with. He told so many wonderful stories about his son Logan (who he loved and was so proud of), about him riding a mechanical bull (and he begged to come to a party where we rented one so he could ride it), hunting, golfing, hockey, dogs, and many more. His ability to belt out the tunes playing in the OSI gym were - uh - interesting and funny. He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by so very many people. To Scott´s family and friends - my heart aches for all of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. His obituary truly describes the Scott I came to know. May God bless you and hold you all close during your time of healing.

I never met Scott, but wanted to say how sad I am for all the people that have to live without him. I have to review obituaries for employment reasons, but when I have a chance I read them. I read them, because each one matters, because each person left behind people they've healed, protected, and loved.

As a client of Scott's I really hated to see my sessions come to and end as I looked forward to it not only to improve my health, but it was a social event as well. So much fun, but yet he would kick my butt in a nice way if I wasn't doing what he told me to. Tough, kind, funny, cute as a button as they say.... Planet earth lost a good one.
