Scott Pearsall MacDonough died peacefully at home in New York City on July 29, 2025.



Scott was born on May 15, 1944 in East Stroudsburg, PA to Dorothy and Jack MacDonough. At the age of three Scott and his sister Jill moved with their parents to Maplewood, NJ. Scott graduated from Columbia High School, Middlebury College and finally Columbia University with a Masters in American Literature.

Scott began his career as a writer for a number of film and television publications before becoming a Unit Publicist in the film industry. In a career that spanned from 1970 to 1990, Scott worked on over twenty major motion pictures including Conrack, Annie Hall, Norma Rae, Manhattan and Diner.

Scott was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge of movies, his skilled writing and his incredible sense of humor.

Scott is survived by his sister Jill, nephew Chris and niece Noelle as well as a network of friends he loved like family.

At the request of Scott, funeral services will be private.
