Scott Plumer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 16, 2021.
1968 - 2020 Scott Burris Plumer passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Arcadia, California in 1968 to Howard L Plumer, Jr and Mary Patricia Plumer. Scott graduated from Arcadia High School and attended University of Nevada Las Vegas. Scott's life passion was sports as a fan, a student, a coach. He could recite team and player stats for almost every sport from memory. As a youth ice hockey coach, Scott started the CalSelects program for girls hockey in Southern California. Scott was most proud of his player's personal development and successes. Many players he coached advanced to D1 college and USA Olympic teams. Another of Scott's interests was horse racing. He spent countless hours with trainers, vets, and jockeys learning the ins and outs of the sport. This December Scott was thrilled to see his horse 'Self Taught' win at Los Alamitos. Scott also loved to spend summers in Mackay, Idaho with family and friends. Scott's circle of friends spanned from grade school to hockey coaching to business ventures. Family and friends were central to Scott's life and we will all miss him dearly. Predeceased by his mother, Scott is survived by his father Howard, brothers William and Jeffrey, sister Kerry, sisters-in-law Tracy and Paula, brother-in-law Mark Snyder, and nephew Derek. Scott's courage and optimism throughout his cancer fight were unrelenting and inspiring. He fought from start to finish. Donations in his memory may be made to JDRF International. Mail Donations to: JDRF, P.O. Box 37920, Boone, IA, 50037-0920. ATTN: Memorial Scott Plumer A private family service will be held in Idaho this summer.

I’m so sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. I had not seen Scott since high school. We had Mr. Manachuck’s math class together and I enjoyed talking sports with him. He was such a good guy and that is why I encouraged him to work for the same employer at the end of high school- Best Buy Drugs. Unfortunately we fell out of touch. My sincere condolences to the family.
