Obituary

Scott Schimanski, 53, of McIntosh, MN, and owner of the McIntosh Bakery, passed away suddenly on Sunday (July 24th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston. Scott Alan Schimanski was born on May 2, 1952 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Howard J. and Lois (Green) Schimanski. He grew up in McIntosh and graduated from McIntosh-Winger High School in 1970. Following high school, he attended college at Brainerd, Moorhead and took night classes at Bemidji and Thief River Falls. Scott was united in marriage to Karen Lecy on June 7, 1975. After their marriage, they made their home in McIntosh and Scott worked with his father at the McIntosh Bakery. He purchased the bakery in 1983 and continued to operate it until the present time. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston. Scott was active in Scouts and was a Scout Master for over 30 years. He liked hunting, fishing, camping, planting trees, being outdoors, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. Scott thoroughly enjoyed his work at the bakery. Although he spent many working hours at the bakery, Scott's true enjoyment came from working with his family in the business and visiting with his customers. Survivors include his wife, Karen of McIntosh; daughter, Kayla of Fargo, ND; and son, Skyler of McIntosh; his mother, Lois Schimanski of McIntosh; five brothers and sisters, Mary Jo (Lonnye) Helgaas of Fond du Lac, WI, Amy (Dean) Renier of Duluth, MN, Susanne (Dean) DeFrang of Fosston, Patrick of Erskine, MN, and Michael of McIntosh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Mark; and his grandparents. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott's Eagle Scouts and members of Troop #89. Active Pallbearers will be Dave Peterson, Russ Bly, Vick Bly, Dave Brinkman, Harry Sandeen, Clay Syverson and Russ Horacek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (July 28th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hansville, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday (July 27th) and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. www.carlinhoialmen.com
