Scott Herbert Steinkamp

I knew Scott for a short time through work but more importantly through our very heated and wonderful tennis matches. I have every match I played against him recorded on my computer. During the last few months of his time here on earth I witnessed how horrible this disease is. I also experienced and was touched by the wonderful love and support of people who loved him . Scott was definitely a fiighter and hated to surrender in tennis and in life in general! I enjoyed being with Tim, Tyler and Scott during the winter of 2008. I am honored to have gotten to know Scott, his family and of course Tim and Tyler.

Tim,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Although I did not know Scott very well, what I know of you gives me the sense that he must have been a loving partner and father. That love will live on through you and your son.

To the Steinkamp family,

I had the pleasure of going to high school with Scott but not the pleasure of keeping in touch with him after school. He was a great guy then skinny, red hair and freckels and a great sense of humor. I have good memories of Scott. I'm sure he was a wonderful man and father. I wish I could have known him better the past 25 years. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am so sorry to hear of Scott's passing. I was not made aware of this until late Friday afternoon. I know we can never replace his heart and attitude, but he will always be in our thoughts. I have so many memories of growing up with him. I'll never forget the way he would just hang out with me playing Old Maid or going for a walk with me around Nashville when we was visiting Grandma. I still have pictures that I took of him at Grandma' house. He will not be forgotten and will be deeply missed by all.

When Scott came to Stonington, I was instantly drawn to everything about him. His face was always lit up with a smile and he was always there for me, good times and bad. Even though our lives took different paths, I will never forget our friendship and how much he meant to me.

We met Scott approximately two years ago under less than ideal circumstances. What a kind spirited, gentle soul whose life is certainly for a blessing. He will be deeply missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with Scott and his entire family now and always.

What a sad day when I heard the news from Betty. I love the obituary - it was beautifully written. It defines Scott to a "T"! I am going to truly miss my "all greek brother". I was so fortunate to have a friend like him. I have many great memories of my days at EIU with Scott and Randy and fun times in Stonington at the "farm". I think we need a "Survivor" this summer in memory of Scott!

Herb, Marilyn, Randy, Tamara, Matt, Tammy, Tim and Tyler, I am so sorry about Scott. I really enjoyed Scott. He was a wonderful man and he grew up to be a wonderful father. I want you to know that I am her for all of you and I know exactly what you are going through so let me know if you ever need anything. We will see you late Friday evening. Love all of you.
