Scott Wilkinson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 20, 2025.
Scott Derek Wilkinson, 66, passed away on August 14th 2025 in Vancouver, Washington. Born on March 20th 1959 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, Scott lived a life marked by humor, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the joys found in everyday moments.

Scott was one of 8 children, with his father serving in the United States Air Force as a Pilot. This career took the family to live in multiple locations throughout his youth. He had fond memories of his time living in Japan, Mexico, California, Arizona and Montana, where he graduated High School. After school, Scott served in the United States Air Force for four years working as a Firefighter, stationed in Oklahoma. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and dedicated career as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with Boeing, where he worked for 28 years. His commitment to doing the job the right way earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Never one to stop learning or growing, Scott later re-enrolled in college to pursue an associate degree-an endeavor that reflected his lifelong curiosity and determination. Whether tackling new academic challenges or exploring the latest technology trends, he approached each pursuit with enthusiasm and intelligence. He loved being a father, raising three children and building a family he centered his life around.

Scott had a passion for music and audio equipment that brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him. He loved working on amps and recievers and testing out speakers, spending multiple years putting together his beloved sound system. He was always eager to share his passion of music and sound, happily having others listen to his system with him. He also enjoyed creating his own games and programs on the computer. Additional things he loved were a good cup of tea, an old Sci-Fi book and a film with a silly sense of humor. His friends and colleagues knew him by his online alias turned alter ego Dingus McGee, with many of his friends referring to him by that nickname.

His hobbies were more than pastimes; they were expressions of his creativity and love for that emotional connection.

Those who knew Scott will remember him as funny and smart-a man whose humor and wit could take over a room. He had a unique gift for finding fun in regular moments and turning the ordinary into something memorable. His laughter was infectious, his stories unforgettable. He was strong willed and resolute, willing to engage in a debate about any subject. He loved animals and raising pets and respected the environment, dreaming of a better world for everyone.

Scott is lovingly remembered by his children: daughters Brittney and Katie, son Logan and daughter in law Brooklyn, as well as his ex wife Tamara. He will be missed by his family including his sister Tammy and her family, who he was grateful to get closer to and spend more time with in recent years.

He was preceded in death by his sister Tracy, brother Kevin, mother Vertie Goats and father Thomas Earl Wilkinson Jr.

We will miss his humor, wit, love of music, and ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
