Sean Andrews Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 18, 2025.
Sean Andrews (1976-2025)

Sean will be remembered by those who loved him as warm, funny, fiery, curious and kind - and as a lifelong enthusiastic and loyal fan of the Mets, Jets and Rangers sports teams. Sean Michael Andrews died on February 23, 2025 at his home in Rego Park, NY at 48 years old.

Sean was born at Southside Hospital to Donna Rheede Andrews and Edward Reese Andrews, Jr. in 1976 and was welcomed to his new home in West Islip, NY by his brother, Andy (Edward Reese Andrews III). His love of sports started early watching the Rangers hockey team with his Dad, Eddie, and brother, Andy. For years the family rose in the still dark hours of morning so Sean and Andy could play hockey on teams at a local ice rink. Sean loved Led Zeppelin, Don Imus, Howard Stern, reading and watching documentaries about New York and world history and culture, and sharing a story and sometimes a cigar with friends and family who shared his interests.

In 2020 to 2021, with inside activities limited due to the pandemic, Sean followed his map of the Greenbelt trail almost daily and excitedly reported each night what he found on his explorations. He proudly showed the photos of the natural beauty he became immersed in and created a wall hanging of one photo of the trail uniquely edited to show the wonder as he saw it.

We invite the many friends and family who loved and appreciated Sean to share their own stories and impressions by posting to this notice.

Sean Michael Andrews is survived by his father, Edward Reese Andrews and the aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly and deeply grieve our loss. Sean was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Rheede Andrews (July 4, 2011) and brother, Andy (May 27, 2016).

A memorial service in remembrance of Sean's life and his passing will be held in Fall 2025.

It was with deep sadness when I heard from Elaine about Sean's passing. I know how close she was to him, but I truly believe Sean will live on in Elaine's heart. My deepest condolences go out to Sean's family for their loss of a loved one.

Much love to all the family. I knew Sean's grandmother, mother and aunts, because I grew up in West Islip. I met Sean and his brother when they were small. I know they were both close to my niece Liz and her husband Rick. I have heard many kind stories about him. Bless his sweet soul and be guided on his journey with loving prayers.

I never imagined we would lose Sean so soon and that we would never again go to Mets game together, share a day at the beach, go parasailing, plan a zero point meal together and compare how much weight we each lost, or just sit and talk. There is a hole in my heart that will never be filled and I will miss my nephew, Sean, forever. I love you buddy. Aunt Elaine
