Sean SHARKEY Obituary
(Ottawa, ON)
We regret to announce the death of Seán William James Sharkey who peacefully passed away on August 1st, 2012 after a short illness at the Ottawa General Hospital. Seán, much loved husband, best known as sweetheart and best friend of Colette (nee Smith), his adoring wife of over 40 years, loving father of Genevieve, Lisabeth, Lynn and Laura (Maudsley), grandfather of Aidan, Seán, Alex, Amy, Ashley, Colleen and Heather and great-grandfather of Gabriella. Son of the late Elizabeth Loney and James Sharkey of Ireland. Seán also leaves behind his mother-in law Alice Smith, extended family and many friends along with his beloved dog Charley.
Seán was a charming gentleman, a great storyteller and artist. He will be sadly missed by everyone he touched throughout his life. Funeral services followed by reception will be held at St. Joseph's Parish (174 Wilbrod Street), on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.
Special thanks to the nursing staff at the Chest Diseases Centre at the Ottawa General Hospital for their care, thoughtfulness and kindness.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to The Ottawa Mission or St. Joseph's Parish (Supper Table) would be appreciated.

Bonjour Collette
Je suis a faire un livre avec tous les monuments et les gens décédés dernièrement dans notre cimetière de Hammond On.
J'aimerais si vous voulez bien que vous me communiquer au 613-419-0611. Je prévois lancer le livre en avril ou mai 2013. Il n'y a pas de pierre tombale mais j'ai fait un RIP avec le nom de votre mari et du vôtre.

Dear Collette,
Who amongst us hasn't had the best – but unfulfilled – intentions to visit a dying friend or relative? Or even to pop a card or note in the mail just to let them know they were in our thoughts? It's human nature to procrastinate even with easy things so when it comes to the difficulty of putting words to a sensitive and final situation, it's no wonder we don't always follow through.

Poppa Sharkey...the thought of not seeing you smile at me and calling me and my girls "sweetheart" is painful and my heart is broken that you have left us. But I know that you are at peace and that you can breathe again. I thank you for showing me the grace, kindness, selflessness, intelligence, charm, and dignity that a man can posess and for loving me exactly the way I am.
