Sebastiana M. Mozzicato, 88, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after a battle with a long-term illness.

She was born on January 9, 1937, in Palazzolo Acreidi, Sicily, Italy, one of three children to the late Nunzia Laquercia-Maltese and Vincenzo Maltese.

Sebastiana, was well known by her nickname Nella, emigrated from Italy in 1967 to the United States and raised her two boys in Hartford, CT. After many years Nella moved to senior housing in East Hartford.

For over 40 years she worked as a Chef's assistant at the Harford Insurance Group Main Cafeteria in Hartford. Nella also worked for several well-known private catering companies in the greater Hartford area. Her hands created amazing Italian meals that fed her family, friends and thousands of people during her professional career.

Nella loved cooking, listening to music, reading Italian magazines and telling stories about her youth during the WW2 era in Italy. She will be greatly missed.

She will forever be known as Nonna by her entire family.

She is predeceased by her sisters, Concettina and Lina of Siracusa, Sicily, Italy

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Christ the King Parish, Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT 06109. A burial will follow, private to the family. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated.
