Segal Edward Drummond, born December 5,1931 in Sipsey, AL to parents Heman and Elza, passed away this Monday, November 29,2010 at the age of 78. As a three sport all-star athlete at Walker High School, Segal won over and married the love of his life, Beverly Hubbert Drummond. Out of high school, he was drafted into the minor leagues and played for the Pittsburg Pirates. After a few years of playing great baseball, he returned to Alabama to assume responsibility of the family coal business with his brothers. He lived the rest of his life bringing joy and humor into the lives of all who knew him. In 1998, he was inducted into Walker High School's Athletic Hall of Fame. Throughout his life, he pursued perfection in golf, hunting, fishing, and dominos. He was loved by his family and friends, who were loved even more by him in return. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly Hubbert Drummond; sons: Segal Edward Drummond, Jr. and wife Cappie and Mark Stephen Drummond & wife Jessica ; grandchildren: Hillary Drummond Palaia, Segal Edward Drummond, III, Cameron Drummond, Caroline Drummond, Catherine Drummond, and Belle Drummond; brothers, sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law: Mrs. Donald Drummond, Mr. and Mrs. Garry N. Drummond, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Drummond, Mr. and Mrs. John Drummond, and Mr. Tom Davidson. He is also survived by one great granddaughter, Tait Palaia. He is preceded in death by his father, Heman Edward Drummond, his mother, Elza Eliza Stewart Drummond, his brother, Donald David Drummond, and his sisters, Hila Jo Drummond Davidson and Barbara Drummond Thorne. Visitation will be held at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper, AL from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1. A memorial service will take place at 6th Avenue Church of Christ in Jasper at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2. A family graveside service will be held at Pisgah Baptist Church in Sipsey, AL.
