Selma Jean Bird, of Adkins Street, Corbin, Ky., departed this life on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Ky. She was born on June 11, 1940 in Whitley County, Ky. to the late, Gus Rains and Dorothy Reed. She was 68 years, 9 months and 18 days of age. She was a member of Grace on the Hill Methodist Church of Corbin, Ky.She is survived by her husband, William Albert Bird of Corbin, Ky.; a daughter. Shanda Alison Wilson and her husband Don of Macon, Georgia: a son, Christopher Allen Bird and his wife Tonya of Versailles, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Briana Autumn Wilson, Bailey Renee Bird, Jacob Dalton Wilson and Alyssa Lauren Bird; her mother, Dorothy Reed of Corbin, Kentucky; two sisters, Sue Hall of Louisville, Kentucky and Carol Wheeler of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Ronald Rains of Harlan, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Donna Brown of Little Rock, Ark., Evelyn Rains of Harlan, Kentucky and Gladys Bird of Williamsburg, Kentucky; brothers-in-law, John Hall of Louisville, Kentucky and Phillip Brown of Little rock, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today (Tuesday) March 31, 2009 at the Croley Funeral Home.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Tim Thompson officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Davis Addition, Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kentucky.Condolences may be made to the family at croleyfuneralhome.comCroley Funeral Home of Williamsburg, Ky. is in charge of arrangements, Andy Croley and Jerry Croley, directors.
