Senator Jay Disharoon Obituary
Jay grew up in Port Gibson and graduated Top of the Class from Port Gibson High School. He graduated with honors from both Mississippi State and Ole Miss, receiving degrees in History and Law, respectively. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having achieved the rank of Captain.
Jay served in the State Senate and House of Representatives, and worked diligently to assist in passing laws regarding child labor and community issues. He also served as Assistant District Attorney for Copiah County and owned several businesses in the Jackson area. At the time of his death, Jay was serving with the MS Volunteer Lawyers.
Jay was a devoted father and grandfather and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terrie Davis Disharoon.
Survivors include his children, John L. Disharoon, Andrew Disharoon, Christi Steijen, Amanda Eisenmenger, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Jennette, D'Arcy Disharoon and Sarah Disharoon Murray; and grandchildren, Claudia, Adrian, Adilyn, Blythe, Ella and Hayes.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00pm, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. A Visitation and Life Celebration Reception will follow.

Disharoon family,
Please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of Jay and Jamie. I knew Jay as we were elected from the same area of Southwest MS to the Legislature.
Jay always had kind words for me and was great at carrying on a conversation with anyone.Jay was a kind person and I never found him to be mean spirited against anyone. That was a good lesson for me to learn from him.
All my best along with thoughts and prayers for your family during this time.
