Serge Agudow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2024.
Serge A. Agudow, 65, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away on August 20, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a battle with Myelofibrosis. Born on December 3, 1958, in Norwalk, Connecticut, Serge was a lifelong resident of the state, having grown up in Wilton. He completed his education at Wilton High School and furthered his studies at Norwalk Community College.

Serge spent the majority of his career at GA Fleet Associates, where he was highly regarded for his integrity, honesty, and cooperative spirit. CEO Raymond Grigorio remarked on Serge's tenure as one filled with accomplishment, noting that for Serge, "customers were friends who happened to give him orders." His ability to forge strong relationships was evident both professionally and personally.

Known for his kindness and generosity, Serge was a gifted mechanic who could fix anything. His hobbies included traveling with his life partner, Karen Tursi, and enjoying fine dining across Connecticut. Serge's love for life and the relationships he nurtured were central to who he was.

Serge is survived by his sisters, Tammy Godeski (Tom) of Norwalk, CT, and Tina Toulon (Errol) of Long Island; his brother, George Agudow (Amy); his nieces, Kristina MacNicholl and Grace Godeski; his nephew, Alex Godeski (Sabrina); and his life partner, Karen Tursi of Fairfield, CT. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Mejia Agudow and George I. Agudow.

A funeral service will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church, 1 Father Conlon Pl, Norwalk, CT 06851, on August 31, 2024 at 10 am. A luncheon in his honor will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or The Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Links to these organizations can be found at their respective websites.

I just read of Serge´s passing. To George: I knew Serge in Junior High and High School in Wilton.
Your words said it all beautifully. Serge was a genuine soul who always had kind words and notably as teenagers had an old soul that I know touched many.

I can still hear his wry laugh and see his smile fifty years later.

Remarks from Serge's funeral service (by George Agudow, read at the service by Tina Toulon):

"Be the best of whatever you are." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

My brother Serge Agudow was a good guy. All of you here today will attest to that.

It seems like a simple thing - to just be a good person, to just work hard and just do the right thing. But I don´t think it is so simple.

Serge was helpful to all, giving of his time, and always there to support a friend in need. He embodied generosity of spirit. I could always call him with a question - for advice - and for help. He´d come over and put up a fence, or help plant a tree - you name it. And he would do it cheerfully - and well. He probably did the same for many in this room. Probably to a fault.

He was cheerful and kind and quick to laugh - he put folks at ease. He was fun to be around.

He made it easy to rely on him - he made it seem like the most natural thing in the world - to just call on him. Serge will know! Serge can help! Serge can do it!

But none of this is simple or easy - he lived a life of service to others and he deserves to be honored for that. As many have noted, he had friends all over the place - he left a trail of good deeds behind - that tells you all you need to know about him.

So, what do you say about a person who never craved the spotlight - who never wanted to be a big shot or draw undue attention to himself? Who didn´t need to be told to be good to others, to lend a hand, who just did so naturally? Who tried to leave things a bit better than he found them?

I´ll say he was a mensch. I´ll say he was a good guy who cared, and it showed in his actions every day.

So I will repeat Martin Luther King Jr´s words "Be the best of whatever you are." Serge did his best and his best was something special. All of us who loved him, called him a friend, worked with him, know this to be true.

We will miss you Serge. The world was better with you in it. Thanks for all you did for us.

Its with great sadness we learn of Serge untimely passing. My condolence to his family and friends. Serge shared the same passion as I on the operation and maintenance of submersible pumps, and I learned so much from him comparing notes over the several years. He had a keen understanding of the water industry in our area, and we are all at a tremendous loss. Rest in Peace

Serge was one of the truest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. For the past decade, it's been a highlight of the day to speak with him about everything from the best places for lunch and dinner, to the most obscure facts about miscellaneous history that only Serge would know about.
He was a great mentor to everyone here at Fleet, and freely shared his knowledge with numerous people at every request. He was more than just a co-worker; as he was a humble friend at every moment.
While his physical presence will be missed, his kindness and respect for others will be forever remembered and honored through our own actions everyday in his name. Rest well my friend.

Serge and I have been co-workers/friends for most of our adult lives. He was the most thoughtful, generous and considerate person I have ever known. He was also smart, funny and easy to talk to. He built strong relationships with his customers because he cared and always looked out for their best interest. He was the "go to" person in our company for all pump problems and always took time to help everyone. You don't meet someone like him very often. He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rest in peace my Friend.

Serge and I worked together for many years - he was such a selfless person, not just a co-worker, but a friend, and one of the hardest workers I know! His kindness was endless and his presence will never be forgotten. I’m so sorry to see him go so soon, yet the memories will be forever.

Serge,
Was a professional peer who helped us out here at the Litchfield WWCF many times over the last decade. He was extremely knowledgeable, quick witted, a problem solver, and always had his customer's needs paramount. Plus he drove a nice looking pick up truck, and was gear head too. It is a tremendous loss for our industry here in Connecticut. Our deepest condolences go out to his entire family, the team at G.A. Fleet, and all the operators, who more than often became his friend-myself included.
Rest easy, my friend.

I always remember my cousin Serge as very kind and resourceful. Always making sure that everyone was comfortable and always helping his dad work on an old jeep.

I remember, as a teenager, we were all about the same age, one day when I came over with my Crossman BB rifle. It was one of those that you pump using the front hand grip. You pump it like a lever. The more you pump the more powerful the shot. Serge, George, and I where shooting at some trees around their house in Wilton when the front hand grip on the rifle broke. It was cheap plastic. So we stopped shooting. I was disappointed that my favorite rifle had fallen apart. Serge grabbed the rifle and walked away towards the garage. George and I walked away looking for something else to do. About an hour later, Serge comes up to us with the rifle. He had manufactured a new hand grip out of a piece of wood. I was so happy. That wood stock that Serge made lasted for the life of the rifle. I always think back on that moment and think about how much Serge thought of others and did everything he could to take care of those around him. My deepest condolences to his immediate family and to everyone that had the fortune of knowing my cousin Serge.

Everyone in the world has a belief or cause they carry through life. It is not common, though, to know someone who is consistently spurred to action by what they believe in. Serge was both compassionate and considerate, while always acting on behalf of someone else. I will never forget multiple things Serge gifted me saying they made him think of me. When I asked why, he'd often refer back to an obscure comment I made in the middle of a longwinded conversation we had prior. Serge was able to do that because he truly cared. I will never forget it and will miss him very much.

Serge was a truly one of a kind person that will be missed by anyone that was lucky enough to cross paths with him. I never met anyone that was more willing to help than Serge. He was always my first call when I needed it, and undoubtedly he would be there. Serge loved what he did and because of his integrity he truly built relationships with his customers that have lasted decades. Just like at work, away from work he was caring, generous and just a lot of fun to be with. Serge loved a good meal, a good drink and a good conversation. I will miss you my friend, May you rest in peace.

Serge had an unbelievable soul. Kind, truly caring and generous to a fault. He would bring many people small gifts, all the time, just to make their day a little better. When he learned my daughters loved pickles, he found the best damn pickles in Connecticut and would grab a jar for them every time he was nearby. We could not eat them fast enough. I, like anyone that knew him well, loved Serge and will miss him dearly.

May Serge rest in peace. He made our first Halloween in the States with our 5-year old Sebastian a very special treat, showing how to hollow out a pumpkin and make a pumpkin lantern at Serge's and Patty's (my cousin) home in Norwalk. Just his smile would put a very big on your face. My thoughts are with all those who loved him.

When I first met Serge he was my instructor for a 3 day class for pump repair. That started a friendship that lasts forever. Professionally he provided me peace of mind that I would always have someone I could count on in a pinch . Serge I´m glad I got to know you in life and I have to say it´s the world that truly loses when a man like you leaves it. Rest in peace my friend

The Hard Worker and True Friend that he was. He always said to me "Maria we work very hard, we should really try to take time off and enjoy life before its too late" Always worked, even when he was in the Hospital, on his computer answering his customers! What a shame to lose someone so smart and talented. "You will be missed but NOT FORGOTTEN" i hope you are resting in peace. Your Friend Maria P.
