Shane was actually the first person I talked to after joining the PhD program. We bonded over sports and later on, he took me to my first ever ice hockey game. Even invited me over to his aunt's and uncle's place for Christmas. He didn't have to do any of that for a guy he had known only for a few months. It's because he was one of the nicest guys and such a good friend.

My sincere condolences to all the family members.

I have so many great memories growing up alongside Shane. What stands out is his smile, laugh/chuckle and ability to be depended on. His friend group will miss him dearly.

I was very lucky to have worked with Shane while he was completing his master´s at Ag Can in London. He always had a smile for everyone, and never a bad word to say. He treated everyone with so, so, much kindness. It was clear he wanted to make life a happier experience for everyone. I am so incredibly sorry to hear of his passing. Both him and his family will be in my thoughts.

My condolences to the family

I went to Queens university and has the priveled of having some classes with Shane, and I considered him a great friend. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He was always so willing to set down what he was doing to help me if I had a question. He was so smart and keen, working through the obstacles life threw at him. I am so deeply saddened by his passing.

I´m so saddened to hear of Shane´s passing. He was a floormate of mine in residence at Queen´s and absolutely the nicest guy. We were all sad to see him go when he had to take some time off due to his concussion. He was brilliant and kind, and will be surely missed. My sincere and deepest condolences to the family.
