Shannon Danielle Wonsey, age 49, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on June 13, 2024, in Jacksonville, FL at the Baptist Medical Center with her devoted sister Michelle at her bedside. She was born on July 12, 1974, in Okinawa, Japan, and spent her formative years in various places, including Memphis, TN, Millers Falls, MA, and Orange Park, FL. Shannon was a sweet and loving person who cared deeply for her family, friends, and pets. She has "boldly fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith". Shannon truly loved God our Creator and was prepared to meet her Lord Jesus.

Our beloved Shannon is survived by her dad David A. Wonsey (aka Pops) and stepmom Sherry, sister Michelle Carole Farrill and her husband Christopher, nephew C. J. Farrill and wife December, nephew Nathan Farrill and wife Carley, niece Madison Farrill and son Kaden, and her life partner Mark Amos, as well as several step brothers, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Shannon has gone on to join her mother Elaine (Noga) Wonsey, who sadly predeceased her thirty years ago.

Shannon attended Doctors Inlet Elementary, graduated from Middleburg High School in 1992, and completed the Master Automotive Service Technician program at First Coast Technical College in St. Augustine, FL. Shannon has been employed as an ASE certified auto parts specialist at NAPA for the past fifteen years. She was known for her conscientious work ethics, dedication, and passion for helping others.

In her free time, Shannon enjoyed caring for her pet dogs, creating recycled art projects, visiting Florida theme parks, attending concerts and festivals, and swimming in the many Florida springs. She was always eager to share the knowledge and enthusiasm of her adventures with others.

A memorial service will be held at the Russell Haven of Rest, at 2335 Sandridge Road, Green Cove Springs, FL, on Friday, June 21st. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with the funeral service at 11:00 am. A celebration of life gathering will follow at the home of Michelle and Chris Farrill, at 2991 Southbank Circle, Green Cove Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Russell Haven of Rest in Green Cove Springs, FL, is assisting with the funeral arrangements. Shannon will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Dear Shannon:...I have loved you, since the moment we met in the delivery room of that hospital on the island of Okinawa...It was love at first sight...The few years (not nearly enough) that we spent together will be forever in my mind and heart ...There were no dark clouds in that beautiful sky that we shared here on earth...You were my sunshine..When you left, you took a piece of me with you that will never grow back, until we meet again...Say hi to your mom for me...I suppose you are now eternally strutting around in that place that He prepared for you with your fancy wings, halo, and that beautiful purple robe...You lucky angel you...Happy trails to you, until we meet again my sweet baby girl...Love, your earthly father and Dad.

I was blessed to inherit two wonderful stepdaughters and a whole other family that I love when I married Shannon´s dad. She was loving and sweet to me and we shared many happy times together through the years. Heartbreaking she is gone too soon, I will miss her very much but take comfort knowing she´s celebrating eternal life in the glorious presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I'll treasure all the memories Shannon and I shared throughout our 39 years of friendship and sistership.
From being young and dumb to becoming adults, as our lives lead us in different directions we still kept in touch. Our friendship was one for the record books! Only a few will understand that.
Shannon, I'll miss you my sweet TATA!. Till I see you again Sis, Love you

Ps: Give mom a big hug from me.

I was blessed to be Shannon's boyfriend and life partner for just over 5 years. In the time we spent together she helped me through various issues from my past and helped me see a brighter future with every passing moment we spent together. I will always hold her in my heart and thoughts. We will definitely find each other again someday when it's my time to catch up.

I remember Shannon so well as a little girl with bright red hair... she skinned her knee and came in crying... I bandaged her knee and she climbed in my lap; we rocked in our rocking chair until she fell asleep...
I haven't seen her in many years, but a sweet memory for me.
Precious memories David and family!
Love to all!
