Sharon Webster Harvey Anderson

1935 ~ 2021

Holladay, UT—Sharon was born in Manhattan, New York, on October 5, 1935, to Leroy Kingsley Webster and Mary Olive Mason Webster. Sharon's family moved from New York to Kentucky and then Washington, before settling in Hood River, Oregon, in 1942.

Sharon attended Pine Grove Elementary School, Hood River High School, and the newly built Wy'East High School where she participated in dance and cheerleading and made many dear friends.

Sharon later attended BYU where she met her husband of 58 years, Ray Merwin Harvey. Together, Sharon and Ray had four children: Kirk Mason Harvey, Cynthia Cardinelle (Robert), Michele Harvey, and Shannon Crosby (Darel). After briefly living in Hood River, Oregon, they settled in the Bay Area of Northern California, first in Burlingame, then Sunnyvale and lastly San Jose.

Both she and Ray loved the outdoors, whether it was car camping throughout the Western United States, backpacking through Yosemite, the Santa Cruz mountains, or the Cascades, their children's family memories are filled with outdoor activities. Sharon loved to plan and attend events, public speaking, dancing and singing, and participating in theatre often related to church activities. She was involved in Boy Scouts as a den mother and in Camp Fire as both a Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girl leader and was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life, holding many callings, including girls' camp where she was known and loved as "Mother Nature."

Sharon and Ray lived in California from 1957 until their retirement in 1998. Upon retirement, they returned to their beloved Hood River Valley. Sharon quickly rekindled old friendships and made new ones. During her later days in Hood River, she survived cancer and cared for Ray who had become ill with Alzheimer's. They later relocated to Utah where they could be closer to family members who could help her with Ray's care.

After the death of Ray, Sharon married Alvin Sven Anderson. Sharon and Al loved to travel. Al was the perfect companion to Sharon as his love of social outings was on par with hers. They also enjoyed serving together in the Salt Lake City Temple. She felt a part Al's family and appreciated their kindness to her.

Sharon is preceded in death by her late husband Ray Harvey, parents and three of her siblings (Scott, Wayne and Adah). She is survived by her husband Al, her sister Gayle Sims, her children, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren (Carrie, Chris, Caleb, Catherine, Gus, Eva, Rush, Jessi, Meghan, Sharon and Mary Olive), and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many.

Sharon died peacefully on August 20, 2021, at her home in Holladay, Utah.

Sharon - Mother Nature, was one of my favorite people at YW camp each year. One year, I accidentally called her Mother Superior, instead of Mother Nature, and it stuck. From then on, I always tenderly called her Mother Superior. I adored her. She was so funny and smart and she knew how to reach out to teenage girls (not an easy or common talent). I am so sorry to hear of her passing, but truly send my love to her family and want to express to you how much I loved and appreciated the sweet influence she was on my life.

Dear Al,
So sorry that your dear wife passed away. I just watched virtually the funeral of Ruby Warner who is now with John and my dear Bob on the other side of the veil. Hope you are doing well, even in your 90's!

Thinking of all of you... Al, Kirk, Cindy, Shannon and Michelle along with spouses , grandchildren and all those who loved Aunt Sharon. Mom ( Auntie Gayle) and I were able to visit her about 3 weeks ago and I´m so grateful for that time. Mom will miss her very much but was so relieved she no longer has to suffer. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Much love
