It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Ashby announces her passing on March 15, 2019 at the age of 71. She was born July 21, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Claud and Lucille Brown. Growing up her father was in the Air Force and she lived in Puerto Rico, Plattsburg, New York, and Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Bellevue High School and received her bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She married Raymond D. Ashby on June 4, 1966 at the Bellevue Chapel in Bellevue, Nebraska. They then relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona for five years and were blessed with two girls, Renee and Rebecca. They moved back to Nebraska in 1972 and while raising their family, Sharon embarked on her teaching career in Bellevue. She taught third grade at Belleaire Elementary and then moved to Leonard Lawrence where she taught sixth grade. She won five Outstanding Teacher Awards with each nomination coming from students who chose her as the teacher most influential to them. She retired after 30 years of teaching in 2006. Sharon enjoyed spending time with family and loved going to her grandchildren's activities. She also loved Husker football, gardening, traveling, and her beloved Bichons. She is proceeded in death by her Mother Lucille Brown and brother Robert Brown. Her surviving family members include her loyal husband Ray Ashby of 53+ years and her daughter Mary Renee Huon (Marc) of Houston, Texas and Rebecca Leigh Waldron (Greg) of Papillion, Nebraska. She had six grandchildren, Corben S. Waldron, Winnie R. Waldron, Jacob R. Huon, Jackson R. Waldron, Alexander M. Huon, and Maci R. Waldron. She is also survived by her Uncle Joe Pulliam and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 at Kahler Dolce Mortuary. Funeral Service will be Thursday at 4:00 pm at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in LaVista, Nebraska. In Lieu of flowers memorials in her name can be made to the Nebraska Chapter of Alzheimer's Association at 11711 Arbor Street, Suite 110, Omaha, Ne 68144.
