Sharon Bernier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 10, 2025.
Sharon Ann Bernier, age 70, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, in Simpsonville, South Carolina where she resided for the last 5 years. Born on August 7, 1954, in Killeen, Texas, Sharon lived a life marked by deep devotion to her family and a heartfelt compassion for animals.

She was the beloved daughter of Leonard Cournoyer Sr. and Eva Cournoyer, both of whom preceded her in death. Sharon was also predeceased by her sisters Linda Gadoury and Sheila Saksa. Her memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew her and were touched by her warmth and resilience.

Sharon is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cournoyer Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Cournoyer, and Ms. Mary Murphy. She held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews.

Her greatest pride was her children: Matthew Bernier and his wife Kelly; Gregg Bernier; and Robert Bernier and his wife Heather. Sharon found immeasurable joy in being a grandmother to Cameron Bernier, Carly Bernier, Damian Bernier, and Amber Truitt. Time spent with her grandchildren brought her profound happiness and fulfillment.

Throughout her life, Sharon extended her nurturing spirit beyond family to the many animals she welcomed into her home. Her love for dogs and cats was unwavering-each one receiving care, affection, and a second chance at life under her roof. This enduring kindness reflected the generous heart that defined so much of who she was.

In honor of Sharon's compassionate nature, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude's Hospital or Second Chance Animal Shelter-organizations that held special meaning for her.

A memorial event will be announced at a later date.

May Sharon's memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.

You will be dearly missed, Mrs. Bernier! Thank you for being such an awesome mom and for always opening your home to all of us neighborhood ruffians! Rest in peace!

May you be at peace. I will never forget the days we walked our children to the four corners and back to Lexington every day. We would start in September to prepare Christmas cookies together for our families Those days were the best time of our lives. They went by way to fast but those memories will live on forever. May you be at peace and my best to your family.

I enjoyed working with Sharon at Millbrook in the Inventory Department. To this day when I hear the song Turn the page, I think of Sharon. She would play it at the start of each day. Back in the day.
