Sharon Hastings Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 23, 2020.

Sharon Lavaun Steiner Hastings, 76, of Mesa, AZ passed into the presence of her Lord on April 22, 2020 at her home in Greenfield Glen, from Leukemia. Sharon was born April 7th 1942 in Dearborn, MI, to Wayne and Ruth Steiner. She grew up in Phoenix Arizona with her brother Duane and sister Coleen.

As an Educator, Sharon taught, ministered in music, led women's bible studies, retreats and seminars in different churches and community groups across the country. Her outlook on life was grounded in her firm belief and great faith as a result of a strong biblical view of God as one who is great and worthy of praise.

Sharon studied elementary education, special ed., music, and biblical literature at Taylor University Fort Wayne and Calvary Bible College which led to spending numerous years in Southern California as a special ed. teacher in the public school district, working at Pepperdine University for 10 years, and being a business owner of Heritage Book & Bible Store. As a retired teacher, Sharon volunteered in the local public school. She also served in numerous churches with her husband, Ed. Sharon loved her five grandchildren dearly and counted every moment with them as precious.

Sharon and Ed, enjoyed an adventurous journey together for 56 years. They spent many years teaching, ministering, counseling and inspiring others to a deeper awareness of God. Many teaching groups were led to Israel, Greece, and Hungary and for many years annual trips to Europe took them to places where much of the history of the church and its leaders originated.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Ed; her two sons, Daniel (Susan) and Douglas (Amy); five grandchildren, Haley, Emma, Lily, Clayton and Lucy; and her brother Duane

I knew Sharon (and Ed and children) from the years that Sharon was a real estate agent in Calabasas, and I was a mortgage broker. She was always a joy to talk with, to work with, to get to know. I only tonight discovered that we had lost her, and wanted to pass on my warmest regards to Ed and the boys, and to say that she will always be a blessing in your lives and the lives of those she interacted with.

I pray that our Lord is comforting you all with fond memories of her grace-filled life. She was such a lady and I always felt the flow of her kindness when I was near her.
Many times I enjoyed her warm hospitality and generosity.
I am sorry that she was called home so soon. May our sweet Jesus gently carry you while she is absent from us.

My dear, dear friend. How fortunate we were that the
"visit" to our home in Lake Sherwood, CA was on your
bucket list. John and I so enjoyed Ed , and of course you.
We do go back a long way. I especially remember the Women's Council of Realtors Board and the trip we took to New Orleans. What fun we have shared. We never lost touch.

I was so fortunate to share in your last moments on the earth. You were a very brave lady with an equally brave husband and care-giver to the end.

"She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called happy." ______Proverbs 3:18

A peaceful rest in Heaven dear Sharon. You earned it. God bless your beautiful spirit. My love to Ed and your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. It is a great comfort knowing the ones we love are in heaven with our Lord and Savior, but the loss here on earth is devastating. I pray that God gives you peace and comfort. Sharon will be missed. We were blessed to have her in our lives and I will never forget all she did for my sister Becky. With love, Debby Nichols.

Our love to Ed, their sons and families with prayers for comfort and their grief.
However we rejoice in the knowledge that Sharon is with Jesus, no more pain and suffering trying to beat this nasty disease.
She was such an inspiration to me. Always cheerful and praising the Lord!! Uplifting me when I was down and on a pity party!

Dear Ed and Family: Max and I were shocked to read of Sharon's passing. I'm sure that this has been so difficult for you all. Sharon was so full of life and joyful, it's hard to believe that she is gone. She had such a love for her family and her friends and met life's hardships with her strong faith, joy and trust in the Lord. We pray the Lord's peace and comfort for all of the family and may the Lord be glorified in her passing. Max and Grayce Coffey, Harrisburg, Oregon.

Good Morning Ed and Family, I am an "Old Ape" that has known Sweet Sweet Sharon and her Hubby Ed for I don't know how many years,I ran out of fingers and toes.
When you talk about Representing Jesus by your actions and not just your words SHARON WALKED IT NOT JUST TALKED IT.
In my life time you don't get to find and get to watch it with your own eyes but I did and will never forget her and looking forward to seeing her again when we all meet again in Heaven.
God Bless you Ed and and the Rest of the family,I have put Sharon's entire Family on my Prayer list and I go thru it every day, and I have 13 pages that I have the privilege of asking for Gods Hand to be on the entire list which I go thru one name at a time daily.
God Bless you all and our love.

We only met Susan a few times through Dan and Susan, but her example of faith and tenacity was encouraging to all of us as we would hear her story through Dan and Susan. We are thankful she is no longer in pain and rejoicing with the Lord. We love you Dan and Susan. Praying for you during this time.

Sharon was an amazing woman who I had the privilege to come to know a bit and love a lot! Sharon's legacy and the way she lived her life will continue to inspire me and live in my heart all the days of my life, and I really hardly knew her so I can only imagine the impact she has had on those closest in her life. What an amazing example of a life well lived. Blessings to the family who carry on her amazing legacy!
