ADVANCE—Miss Sharon Audra Potts, 69, formerly of Homer Potts Road, went to heaven to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

She was a beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to all. Sharon was the daughter of Homer and Audrey (Dottie) Potts and was born on September 12, 1951. She was a lifetime resident of Davie County and lived in the community of Cornatzer until her illness sent her to Bermuda Commons for many years.

Sharon was a special gift that God gave us. She was born with cerebral palsy at birth and was loved unconditionally by her family. We could look to her for an example of perseverance and strength, as she continued to fight battles in health and limitations that would crush many of us. She showed us what it is to be strong, because strength is not just found in being the biggest, the toughest or the fastest. Strength is found in one who keeps on going, keeps trying, day after day, long after others give up. Strength is found in one who knows success isn't always big and flashy, but knows that sometimes the greatest success is found in the tiniest of victories. In this way, she was a hero who also kept on going, day after day, through the best times and through the hardest times. Sharon was a blessing.

Sharon attended Shady Grove Elementary and Davie County High School. Sharon loved to travel while her health was good and traveled all over the United States with her mother, Dottie. Sharon loved going to Shelia's Beauty Shop every week and was a loyal customer. Her favorite color was red and she loved going to eat at Deano's on Thursdays after the beauty shop. Her favorite place to shop was Walmart and she loved going to see movies with her friends and going out to eat. When she was of good health, she was a client and attended the Rowan Vocational Opportunities in Salisbury. She loved going to the "workshop" as she called it and made lifetime friends there. She retired with 41 years of service and was honored at RVO with a wonderful retirement party.

Sharon loved the Lord and was a lifetime member of Cornatzer Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Pam Harpe (Derek) of Advance; very special nephews that she loved dearly, Brandon Harpe of Advance and Brent Harpe of Greenville; and numerous special cousins and devoted friends.

The family is comforted by remembering that Sharon is no longer in pain. No suffering in heaven. She is now in her new body with Christ and she is walking the streets of gold. Hallelujah. Amen.

The family is particularly grateful for family and friends who have remained close and given many hours of gracious love to Sharon, particularly in these last few years. Special thanks to the staff at Bermuda Commons and the Hospice Care Team for the love and care that has been given to Sharon. May God bless you all.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 30, at Cornatzer Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeff Beverly and Rev. Johnny Nunley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state in the church one hour prior. Friends may visit Eaton Funeral Home from 12 to 6 p.m. Saturday to pay their respects to Sharon.
