Shauna FRASER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2004.
FRASER, Shauna Leore Shauna Leore Fraser quietly passed away at home in the early hours of Sunday January 18th, 2004. Her husband Fred Yackman and her beloved dogs Barclay and Zoe were at her side. Shauna was predeceased by her dad Howard Fraser in 1974. She is survived by her mother Ada Fraser, her sister Keltie Doucet, brother in-law Maurice, nephews Tayler and Brennan, sister in-law Mary Yackman, brother in-law Jack Auvinen, her niece Erika Yackman Auvinen and her first husband Dennis Zawalsky. Shauna Fraser was a force to be reckoned with. She was passionate, gutsy and full of determination. She never did anything in half measures. In her early childhood she was a champion Highland dancer. Her next and life-long passion was antiques and she became involved with The Wild Rose Antique Society. Shauna was a fiercely loyal person and devoted 25 years of her life to working for Stelco and Altasteel. It was here her interest in writing began as she became a contributing editor to the company newspaper, Stelco Steel West. Shauna's love of words, books and ideas lead her into a new career as a screenwriter which she pursued while still working at Altasteel. She co-created and wrote two television series, The Bird Guy and RIP: Great Cemeteries of the World and two one-hour documentaries on cemeteries for Discovery USA. Shauna's passion for life, conversation, and laughter with friends will be missed by all - especially the Flock. Public Visitation will be held on Friday January 23 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday January 24. Both public visitation and the memorial will be held at Glenwood Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home located at 52356 Range Road 232 in Sherwood Park (located across the road from Salisbury Greenhouse). Please send flowers to the funeral home or donations can be made in Shauna's name to the Cross Cancer Institute. "Though they go mad they shall be sane, Though they sink through the sea, they shall rise again; Though lovers be lost, love shall not, And death shall have no dominion. "Dylan Thomas
