Shawn Allen Ashley of Des Moines, Iowa passed away at home on February 29, 2024. He was 39. Shawn was born on June 15, 1984 to Mark (Tony) Ashley and Danielle Walke-Michaud in Des Moines. Iowa. He graduated from North High School in 2002 and one day following his 18th birthday he left Iowa for the U.S. Marine Corp. Most recently, Shawn was employed as a Technical Operator at Kemin Industries, Inc. in Des Moines.

Shawn most enjoyed time outdoors fishing, camping and hiking in State and National Parks, adventures to new places and especially loved a recent family trip to Hawaii. He also enjoyed music, discussions of history, his Magic cards and war hammer collections, playing video games and his beloved dog, Gizmo.

He is survived by the love of his life, Megan Watson, their daughters, Peyton and Bailee, his parents, Tony Ashley (Misty) and Danielle Atkinson (Jim) and step-mother, Carol Knutson. Surviving siblings include his twin brother, Mike Ashley (Jaime) of Indianola, Jacob Ashley (Jackie) of Hartford, Cody Ashley and Dillon Robinson, both of Des Moines and sisters, Katie Correllus (David) and Kylee Ashley all of Newton along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Shawn was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Raymond and Jayne Walke, Karen Ballew and Donald Smith, Uncles Danny Ashley, Chris and Jeff Fees and cousin, Joey Halterman.

A gathering for all friends and family (Celebration of Life) will be held in Carlisle, Iowa on Sat., Mar. 9th, 2024 at 1pm at Avon Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to support the American Federation for Suicide Prevention's Shawn Ashley Memorial Fund. We have a lot of fond memories of Shawn and Mike and the rest of our kids playing together when they were younger . Us adults could never tell them apart but our kids could. Nephew you will be truly missed .Love ya to the moon ànd back always. We are here if Mike and you need us. Uncle Dan & Aunt Can.
