GILLIS, Shawn
Suddenly taken from his family on July 4, 2018 at the age of 44. Shawn is survived by his boys Shawn Michael, Sawyer and their mother Jan Purdy Gillis and dog Maggie. He will be missed by parents Big Al and Deb Gillis and Myrna Odo, brother of Chris and Andrea, Dwayne and Trisha, Jenn and Joe, Tom, and Danny Odo. He was a loving uncle to Harley, Emily, Zachary, Jordon, Zack, Olivia, Jenna and Hudson. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed by Bernie and Gisele Grover, Tom Purdy Sr., Jason Purdy, Tom Purdy Jr., and Nicolas Purdy. He will be fondly remembered by lifelong friends Phil Morency, Larry Morency, Anthony Willson, John Morneau, Larry Parent and Woody. Shawn's first love were his two boys and his family, second was his love for the outdoors, fishing, camping and the Maitland River in Goderich. Special thank you to Shawn's aunts, uncles and countless others who went above and beyond. Thank you Home Instead, ARC Rehabilitation and the many people who helped with his care. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Education Fund for his boys. Shawn didn't like getting dressed up so the family requests casual wear for his visiting and funeral. Visitation Sunday 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Monday at 11:30 a.m. at

Met Sean several years ago when he built our basement bathroom and again when he installed hardwood flooring in our home. Wonderful man, with a great work ethic. Our sympathy is extended to his family.

Shawn worked on renovating our home 3 years ago and I remember him talking fondly about the boys while he tiled and grouted. I also worked with him and as a new parent he always reminded me how good his kids are, and that ours would turn out fine, and not to worry. I pray for nothing but strength for Shawn's family and closest friends. Shawn I hope peace has found you and I'll keep you in my prayers.

We had the opportunity to meet Shawn 11 years ago when he worked on the restoration of our home after a fire. Then, he helped us again recently during the Tecumseh flooding and literally saved our basement from worse damage with his quick action. His workmanship was top notch. I enjoyed listening to him talking about his boys. It was evident they meant the world to him. Sending our deepest sympathies to all of you as you grieve the loss of a talented and hard working man.
May you Rest In Peace Shawn.
