Shawn David Pickens, 19, left this life on Sat., July 15, 2006. He was born on October 30, 1986. Shawn was a graduate of Hillcrest High School. Close friends and family affectionately called him "Bubba". Shawn loved to hunt and fish with his friends, especially with his dad. He also had a passion for playing the guitar, which he learned from Uncle Steve. Shawn could be described as the class clown or life of the party. His laughter was contagious. Shawn is now with his grandfather, Kenneth Crabtree, and leaves behind his father, David "Slim" Pickens mother, Lori Pickens Stafford three sisters, Kacie who held a special place in Shawn's heart, Courtnee and baby Jesse, both of whom he loved dearly grandparents, Dewey Glenn and Ruby Jean Pickens, with whom he shared a special relationship another wonderful grandmother, Lora Crabtree cousins, Kali and Emily Anderson, who were very special to Shawn and cousin Amanda Pickens who shared a bond with Shawn that can't be put into words. Uncles and aunts include Michael and Susan Pickens, Steve Pickens of Springfield, Timmy and Teresa Pickens of Mississippi, Mike and Judy McCroskey, Dean and Missy Anderson of Willard, and John and Caren Crabtree of Gravis Mills many other cousins and family members who will miss him dearly. Although Shawn's life was short, he made many friends who will miss him greatly. His death leaves us heartbroken, but his life leaves us with many memories in which to heal. He was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Visitation will be Thursday, July 20, 2006, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Clear Creek Cemetery.
