Shawn Roller

Mr. Shawn Douglas Roller, 45, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on March 30, 2025. Born on July 9, 1979, in Hinsdale, Illinois, Shawn lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and a deep longing for peace. Like the prodigal son, his journey took many turns, but the love of the Father never wavered. By grace through faith, and through his Holy Baptism, Shawn has been welcomed home into the arms of a merciful God-redeemed, restored, and now at rest.

Shawn's early years were spent in Naperville, Illinois. He attended Bethany Lutheran School for grade school and later graduated from Naperville North High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from DePaul University, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to understanding and helping others.

Professionally, Shawn approached every role with a strong work ethic, genuine care for others, and a thoughtful mind. Early in his career, he served at Eternal Awakenings, a faith-based rehabilitation center, where he demonstrated deep compassion for those in recovery. He founded their program for monitors-an initiative that reflected his desire to walk with others through difficult seasons and help them find hope. Later, from 2008 to 2021, Shawn worked at Texas Instruments in sales and business operations roles. His dedication and steady presence made him a valued and trusted colleague.

In addition to his professional work, Shawn was an accomplished photographer with his own business. Through his lens, he captured more than just images-he told stories that touched lives. His unique ability to see beauty and meaning in everyday moments blessed many.

Shawn's heart was drawn to serving others, and he found meaningful purpose in mission work-most notably during his time in Uganda. Though his own struggles sometimes made it difficult to consistently live out that calling, there were many moments when his compassion and humility shone through. Whether through global outreach or simple acts of kindness at home, Shawn longed to share the love and mercy he himself had received.

A devoted father who loved his boys dearly, Shawn leaves behind three sons: Noah Legenski, Judah Roller, and Augustus Roller. He is also survived by his mother, Joyce Roller; his brother, Scott Roller, and wife Amy; his sister, Susan Marin; as well as nieces and nephews who will remember him with love. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Roller.

Shawn had a deep appreciation for music-especially the band Wilco-and found joy in sharing songs that moved him. He also loved all things Chicago, especially cheering on the Cubs, enjoyed playing soccer in his younger years, and looked forward to every chance he had to go snowboarding. Shawn had a warm sense of humor and a thoughtful, creative spirit. Those close to him will remember his kindness, his curiosity, and the unique way he connected with people.

A funeral service celebrating Christ in the life of Shawn will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, located at 2708 Virginia Parkway, McKinney, Texas 75071, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Shawn's legacy lives on through the lives he touched-with every photograph taken, every soul uplifted through his care at Eternal Awakenings or abroad on mission trips, and most profoundly through the love he gave so freely to those around him.
