Shealyn Rae Madsen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 30 to Apr. 1, 2023.

Shealyn Rae Madsen, 18, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, after a life-long courageous battle of congenital heart issues.

Shealyn was born on May 10, 2004 in Corpus Christi, Texas, the daughter of Daryl and Michele (Payne) Madsen. Shealyn attended Luther Jones Elementary, Grant Middle School and Harold T. Branch Academy. She loved school! It was always her hope to continue her education in college.

Shealyn was a lover of art, drawing, video gaming, listening to music and her tabby cat, Sam. She was fabulously funny, compassionate and vivacious. We will always remember her infectious smile, twinkle in her eyes and sweet personality. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.

When you think of Shealyn, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.

Shealyn was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Julia Madsen. She is survived by her parents, Daryl and Michele; her maternal grandparents, Leo and Kiona Payne of Odessa, Texas; maternal grandmother, Linda Clanton (Meme) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and paternal grandparents, Dwayne and Susan Madsen of Aurora, Nebraska. She is also lovingly survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her sweet smile, kind heart, and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial gathering and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Shealyn was brought into our lives as a gift. Her smile was infectious and she brought sunshine into every room she entered. Her positivity and perseverance made us appreciate life and made us all better people just by being in her presence. I will miss her dearly.

Shealyn was the type of person to always have a smile on her face and encouraged others to do the same. I can´t help but remember sitting at a group during one of Ms. V´s contentlabs and not being able to control our laughter. Even though Ms. V was getting really fed up with us, I couldn´t help but see Shealyn giggling still which made me laugh even harder.

Shealyn was one of the kindest people I have ever known. One could not miss her walking down the hall as her smile beamed for every passer by. Shealyn was not officially an English student of mine at Branch Academy, but she was in my advisory and a study class, so I got to know her during those times. I remember reading an excellent analysis she wrote on The Great Gatsby. Her impressive and immaculate writing blew me away! She was a remarkable self-starter with a keen dedication to her academic endeavors. Other students looked up to her with admiration for her discipline and her courage. We all loved Shealyn. She will be missed, especially by those in her Senior Class of 2023. We will think of courage and kindness when we remember Shealyn, a legacy that I will strive to leave when my time comes.

Shealyn was the sweetest grandniece! You would never know the struggles she faced by her sunny and positive personality. She was a fellow art lover and I was glad to have that special connection! She offered a cheerful and accepting contribution to life - let us all take a lesson from her.
