Knew Shecky my entire life. My father, Sam Distefano, was a senior executive with Hugh Hefner's Playboy Empire for 26 years and VP Entertainment at the Riv in Vegas for 12 years. They both grew up together in Chicago and were both born in the same year (1926). He was a close family friend FOR LITERALLY DECADES. And he was considered the greatest, most brilliantly spontaneous comedian EVER by all the greats. And rightfully so. Shecky could (and often DID) IMPROVISE AN ENTIRE 20 minutes ON THE SPOT completely off the cuff! Nobody could do that. Not even the great Robin Williams, God Bless his soul as well. But Shecky was ALSO one of the most thoughtful, charitable, GIVING and MOST KIND persons we ever knew. R.I.P. my great friend. Love you and miss you always. Sincerely, Michael Distefano (Sam Distefano's son) - Las Vegas, NV

When I was a kid he was one of my favorites. Made me laugh every time I saw him on TV. A little over a year ago our family was having dinner at Claim Jumper on Green Valley and Shecky walked in and came straight to our table where our baby granddaughter Charlotte was sitting and sang her a song in front of the whole restaurant. He was such a nice person he even took a picture with me. Rest in eternal peace Shecky. You left a mark throughout the world and will never be forgotten.
