Mrs. Sheila Brown Evans, of Midlothian, was made new in the presence of her Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2015 in Richmond, VA at the age of 71. Sheila is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, John Evans, Sr; 11 children, Lisa Taylor and her husband, Ed, of Belton, MO, Tracy Evans of Midlothian, Vicki Tompkins and her husband, Darrell, of Buckingham, Kirstin Evans of Richmond, Abigail Johnson and her husband, Bo, of Orange, John Evans, Jr and his wife, Chelsea, of Chesterfield, Joseph Evans of Midlothian, Jeremy Evans of Richmond, McKenzie Evans, Hannah Evans, and Taylor Evans, all of Midlothian, and sister, Virginia "Jenny" Phoenix of Shawsville. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Ethel Brown of Richmond; brothers William Haymaker of Wytheville, Robert Haymaker of Richmond and Northern Neck and Frederick Brown of Burgess; and grandson, Zachary Thomas Wilkinson of Chesterfield and Buckingham. Sheila was born on February 4, 1944 in Roanoke to Everett Lawrence and Ethel Clara Brown. She married her high school sweetheart, John Evans, on April 24, 1968. Her children remember her as a comforting yet determined mother who encouraged them to follow the direction of the Lord in their lives. Sheila was accomplished at mothering and sacrificially gave her time and heart to the role of being a caretaker to dozens of children in the Richmond area. She was a generous individual who loved babies and who was passionate about providing homes to the homeless and abandoned children though foster care. She was an active and dedicated member of several churches in the Richmond area, including Swift Creek Baptist Church and Clover Hill Baptist Church.
