Sheila FRANKLIN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 24 to Jan. 25, 2016.
FRANKLIN, Sheila Bridget
Sheila Bridget Franklin (née Schiavi) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on December 19, 2015 at the Jupiter Medical Center. Sheila is survived by her husband George; daughter Kim; and siblings Kathryn Schiavi-Germony (Geoffrey) of Jupiter, Mary Hourigan (Frank) of Dunblane, Scotland, Elena Doherty (Michael) and Peter Schiavi (Breda) of London, England and Adam Tierney (late Kitty) of Edinburgh, Scotland; nieces Gabrielle Leary (Jay) and Jessica Schiavi-Germony; grand nephew Kane Germony and grand niece Victoria Germony as well as extended family in England, Scotland and Italy. She was preceded in death by her son Sean Ashley Franklin. Sheila was born at St. Mary's Hospital in London on May 22, 1939 to the late Silvio and Catherine Schiavi (Kane). She graduated from Pitman's College, London and emigrated to the United States in 1961. She married George, her teenage sweetheart, in Lockport, NY in 1962. They relocated to Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 1980. Sheila was an Administrative Assistant at JJ Taylor for 15 years before retiring in 2004. She was a generous, caring individual, loved by all who knew her. She had the same best friends for over 50 years, Gene and Joan Conway, John and Monica Chew, Darrell and Barbara Mantei and their families, despite often being separated by states or countries. Sheila also had a special relationship with Fred and Leslie Salmon, Michael and Kim Amberg and the late Harvey Liebman, with whom she dined most Friday nights for over 30 years. Despite her 13-year struggle with Parkinson's disease Sheila lived a full and meaningful life with the care of her loving husband George of 53 years. She was an active member of the Royal Palm Beach Parkinson's group and the Jupiter Parkinson's group. The family is grateful to all of Sheila's caregivers for their loving kindness. A memorial celebration of Sheila's life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00AM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. All of Sheila's friends and loved ones are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Royal Palm Beach Parkinson's Support Group (Bernice 561-798-7798) or the Jupiter Parkinson's Support Group (Nancy 561-744-1442).

George and Kim,

So sorry to learn of Sheila's passing. I worked with her 32 years ago at the bank. She was a true lady and lots of fun. She is responsible for my hot tea addiction today. God bless you both. Rest in peace Sheila.
