Shelley Burgess Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 10 to Jun. 18, 2023.
Shelley W. Burgess, 69, born to Dr. Gordon F. and Patricia Miller Burgess, July 16, 1953, passed away peacefully at home in Bluffton, SC April 25, 2023 surrounded by family. She grew up in Milwaukee in a family who loved the arts, providing service to one's community, and taking care of each other. In her youth, she was an ardent sailor. She traveled the world as a young woman and lived in cities across the United States and Canada as part of a military family while she raised the loves of her life: her sons Samuel and Peter Lunsford.

After returning to Milwaukee, Shelley spent the majority of her career as a successful realtor and businesswoman. She retired to South Carolina in 2015 and consistent with her creative nature maintained part-time employment in an art gallery.

Shelley is survived by her sisters Donna and Pati and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved and cherished her. Shelley joins her sons Sam and Pete in Heaven as well as her mother, father, and brother Tad.

A celebration of Shelley's life will take place on Friday, June 23 at 10:30 am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2618 N. Hackett Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53211. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
