Sheri was two years younger than me, and when we were children we enjoyed growing up in the country with our many pets, ponies, cousins, and grandparents living next door. Riding our bicycles, and later our mini bike to our grandparent’s and cousin’s farms was an everyday occurrence in the wonderful Iowa summers. Sheri was such an animal lover, and even had a pet raccoon at one point. We had a couple of bantum roosters that we would tease by riding our bikes right along beside of them in the yard. They didn’t like that, and would chase us—much to our delight. One day we were riding our bikes looking for them...we were slowly riding around the garage...pedaling around one corner....pedaling around the next corner...where did those birds go?! Sheri stopped her bike. Suddenly a burst of screaming and Sheri tore around the corner with a flapping rooster on her head! That wily rooster had been on the roof and jumped onto her pretty blond head! That had both of us screaming! She ran quite a ways with that bird hanging on to her hair. I can still see it in my mind!
No harm was done, but that old rooster later ended up in the soup pot.
I loved sharing adventures with my little sis. I loved her so, and will miss her so much.

I still can hardly believe our awesome and always upbeat friend is gone. Sheri was truly an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Her bubbly personality, kindness, energy, great athleticism in her sports teams we played in together of tennis and bowling league and her never ending smile. I truly loved that beautiful lady.
