Sherman Blalock

Raleigh

Sherman Blalock, 57, a lifelong resident of Raleigh, departed this life on Saturday, November 2, 2013, after a courageous battle against cancer.

At an early age he joined Young Missionary Temple C.M.E. of Raleigh.

He is preceded in death by his brother Minister Donnell Black.

He is survived by his three children Joshua Burton, Sherman Blalock, and Sumaya Blalock all of Raleigh; one granddaughter NiKenzie Smith of Raleigh; siblings Myrtle Ann Newsam, and Alphonza Blalock of Raleigh, Pastor John Marks, Jr. (Vera) of Kinston, Lisa Blalock, Dionn Blalock, Joann Blalock Edward Blalock, and Andre Blalock all of New York, three uncles, one aunt, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Sherman was a well-known professional painter and worked for years with Robert ("Duke") Corprew after which he started his own business, "The Touch." He was a very talented painter and known for his faux painting, which always had his special touch! He was a "good man with good hands" and had a most loving heart. Sherman was always interested in his clients' lives, had an incredible memory and a smile that will be missed by all that knew and loved him. He was a sincere, loving and faithful man and always asked about others. He had a keen interest in art and antiques and all that surrounded him. He will missed by so many, especially the Robert Rehm family who loved him very much.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 6, at Glorious Church, which is located at 725 Glascock Street in Raleigh.
