November 14, 1953 - May 5, 2025

Sherri Tylene Thompson (Simmons) passed away peacefully at home after a hard fought battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sherri was born in Andrews, Texas before her family relocated to Las Vegas in her childhood. She attended Paul Culley Elementary, Garside Junior High, and graduated from Western High School with the class of 1971. Sherri enjoyed traveling and was always up for an adventure. She had many interesting jobs throughout her life. She worked at the Horseshoe Casino, Core Mark, at McDonald's corporate offices, and retired from the State of Nevada Unemployment department. She leaves behind close friends from her years of school and work.

Sherri is survived by her son Bryan and his wife Monica; Daugher in Law Myranda; Grandchildren Dylan J, Kaitlyn, Bryan S, Kennedy, and Wyatt Thompson as well as her brother, Tony Simmons. She also leaves behind many close friends and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Dylan C Thompson and her parents Norma Simmons and Jack Simmons.

Sherri had a generous spirit and helped teenagers experiencing homelessness through Project 150 in Las Vegas, Nevada. At Christmas time she would choose a student and buy them everything on their wishlist. In honor of Sherri, her family would be grateful for donations in her memory be made to Project 150 at www.project150.org.

A celebration of the life and legacy of Sherri Thompson, will be held on Saturday June 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at 3420 Baldoyle Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89129. All who knew Sherri are invited to attend and share her fond memories and unforgettable stories.

Sherri was one my mom's oldest and best friends. I was so grateful for her love and support when my mom passed away couple of years ago. I didn't know Sherri well, but she was a blessing to my mom. My condolences to all the lives she's touched.
