I attended Dance classes with Sherrie for many yrs in Covington. We danced with the June Greer Dance School. I loved being childhood friends with Sherrie. She was a beautiful, bubbly, friendly girl. I am sorry I lost touch with her over the yrs. I found out about her death July 21, 2011. I hope her family reads my words. I hope in some way they will bring a smile to their faces, and comfort to their hearts.

My First Christmas in Heaven"

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below,

With tiny lights, like heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear.

For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,

But the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,

For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me. I see the pain inside your heart,

But I am not so far away. We really aren't apart.

So be happy for me dear ones. You know I hold you dear

And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year!

I send you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.

I send you each a memory of my undying love.

After all, love is the gift, more precious than pure gold.

It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do

For I can't count the blessings or love he has for each of you.

So, have a merry Christmas and wipe away that tear.

Remember, I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year!

Let me say how wonderful Mrs. Sherrie was. I remember her picking me up for swimming practice and bringing me along with Hilary, Adam, and Blair during those hot summer days at Covington Country Club! What beautiful memories I hold with me as I look back at all the love Sherrie has shared with me and with my family. I love you all, and your family will always be in my heart. God bless, and I will see you all soon.

Hilary and Blair,

Though I never really was especially close to your family, I wanted you to know that though at times quiet, you are one of the tightest knit and strong families I've ever had the honor of knowing. Your strengths would astound anyone and I know Ms. Sherrie is proud. Love you guys!

We want to express our sincere sympathy to the Buras family. Sherrie was a good friend to all of us when we lived in Covington ten years ago and I admired her greatly for her unending kindness. My daughter Megan was in Hilary's class at Little School and at Covington Elementary and that is how we came to know the Buras family. She enjoyed Hilary's friendship. We lived at 8 Beth Drive for three years and were then transferred back to Illinois. Emily Garcia phoned & emailed me and let me know about Sherrie's death. You are all in our prayers. Sincerely, Cindy, Megan, Cassie and Caroline Martin.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Buras family. I have such fond memories of the kindness and gentleness Sherrie showed my daughter, Kimberly, when she taught her 12 years ago. The notes Sherrie pinned on her every day were always positive and loving. I still have them and they will be cherished. Sherrie will be missed, but always remembered.

This is a true story that I want the Buras's and Rodwigs to hear!

While the services for Sherrie were being held, one of the mourners was having difficulty with his leg while in church. He went outside of St. Peter's church so that he could not disturb others. As he stood in front of St Peter's Church a student from St. Peter's school was driving by with his mother. The mother stopped the car so the young man could go and ask why there were so many cars in all dirrections. The young boy asked the gentleman, "Is this a funeral?" to which the gentleman replied, "Yes." Then the young man asked, "Was it a celebrity?" The gentleman replied, "Yes"!

My dearest Buddy, Blair, Adam, Hilary, Buras Family and Rodwig Family,

Thank you for sharing the gift of Sherrie with all of her friends. The last 20+ years have gone by much too quickly. We are so blessed that God sent us the gift of Sherrie. Although we are all devastated by the loss of our most beautiful friend we can all be comforted knowing that Sherrie touched all of our lives in a special way. She has become our inspiration. We will all become better mothers, better volunteers, better people because of the impact Sherrie had in our lives. We will all ask "What Would Sherrie Do?" when confronted with difficult decisions. Although her time on this earth was cut short, she contributed and educated us in heavenly ways. We can assure you we all will strive to be more like her. What a beautiful legacy to leave to you. Rest assured you will not have any moments without us! We will be watching out for all of you forever! PS. Hilary, Melody, Wayne, Bobby and Father Pat, you were awesome!

My first contact with Sherrie was working with her on the CHS Project Graduation committee. I then became aware that she was "Blair and Hillary's mom". Well, no wonder they had grown into the beautiful young women they had become, I could now see the connection. Sherrie, a giver to all, a friend to so many. Dedicated wife and mother, proudly standing behind her family. Her guidance allowing them to all grow and become the incredible young adults they are. Blair, Adam and Hillary, I know the deep grief you are experiencing seems as though it will never end...please find comfort in the fact that your mom loved and treasured you, you all were a gift to each other. May you always feel her presence guiding you and know that her pride didn't die. May GOD be with all of you during this most difficult time. Lean on HIM, HE will help you through. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity; She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them ... Give her the reward she has earned and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31

Buddy, may GOD strength and comfort you and the children in the days ahead. Sherrie was a wonderful classmate at old CHS.
