Sherry Ann Brown passed away October 15th, 2022 at Mission Point Nursing & Physical Rehabilitation Center of Holly, MI. Following a battle with cancer.

Sherry was born May 27th, 1945 to Colonel Pershing Gordon Zimmerman and Margaret Zimmerman. Her father was in the Air Force and the family was stationed at many different locations growing up but it was Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, MI where she meet the love of her life, Dale. Married Senior year of High School, they celebrated 60 years of marriage in September.

Sherry and Dale started their family in Inkster, MI. Sherry worked at the National Bank in downtown Detroit. Daughter, Debbie was born in 1966 and son, Keith was born in 1968.

In 1971 they returned to old stomping grounds, Oscoda to raise their family. Sherry worked at the Office Bar waitressing and bartending. In 1973 they had the final addition to the family, Lori Lynn. Sherry did house cleaning for quite a few years. She enjoyed camping, square dancing, euchre with many couples to help pass the winters in Oscoda. When the base closed Dale took the last few years of his civil service job to Crane Naval Base in Indiana. In 1992 Sherry started a job in Bedford, Indiana for Kmart. Initially, cashier and then garden center.

Once again, in 1996, Dale & Sherry returned to Michigan; purchasing a home in Mikado. Sherry transferred to the Oscoda Kmart and was in returns and the electronics department. She retired from Kmart in 2008. For many years, Dale and Sherry enjoyed the RV life in Beverly Hills, FL for 5-6 months of the year. They meet some amazing wonderful friends in their times there, in addition to the many friends they made over their lives. Sherry enjoyed Bingo, dice games, card games and loved to get people together. She always had coffee on, great meals and lots of laughs. She was a warm, caring soul that enjoyed the company of others.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dale. Her children, Debbie (Keith ) Schmidt, Keith ( Barb) Brown, Lori ( Tim) Sims. Grandchildren, Jarrod ( Bella) Calabrese, Riley Calabrese, Rachel ( Matt) Brown, Kyle Brown and Sabastian Seedorf. Sisters- Barbara ( Dick) Bessmer, Voncele ( Denis) deVlaming. I know this is very late... just ran across this news... to one of the best father-in-laws(Dale) and to the rest of the family ... I am deeply sorry for the loss of Mom... she was one of a kind... and only in the good ways... they always made me feel welcomed and loved... I struggled with the whole family thing because of my childhood (moving so much and being an only child) ... but Mom and Dad showed me what it is to be apart of a real family...

I am going to miss Sherry very much. We talked on the phone once a week in the summer and played games, went to bingo together every week. We had dinner together once a week and had many, many laughs together.Holidays we´re spent together in Florida many years.

This warm and caring woman, Sherry Brown, is my cousin. We saw each other only a few times, as kids and young adults, at our Zimmerman family reunions in Minnesota, near the birthplace of our fathers (brothers), Bertha. We were the same age. I was impressed with Sherry because I imagined her life "at the pool under the palm trees" in Florida. Later I met Sherry´s Dale and shared time with them at our wonderful Aunt Masie´s in Parkers Prairie, MN. Hoping your memories keep you company during your time of grief. Love, Judith Zimmerman, Cambridge, MN.
